Yep, pretty good gig. They make a hell of a noise between the two of them. How he manages to cover rhythm and lead guitar so seamlessly, and sing at the same time I'll never know. They're a bit samey though, apart from the occasional slower tune, it was basically one riff-monster after another. The White Stripes (the obvious comparison) have a bit more diversity to them.

Class gig, hard to believe that just the two of them were making that noise.

I thought it was a bit mediocre, enjoyed them more when I saw them a few months back.

But what riff-monsters! I can understand the criticisms but I loved it. New stuff sounds good too, no departure tho!

Ah now! Jackie White's pretty wild on stage himself. White Stripes just have the pop sensibility and less diverting drummer.

Whites Stripes are poppier and punkier - reedy guitar tone and thin voice. Black Keys are more hard rock, they reminded me a bit of Ten Years After and (of course) Zep. Thats what you get with a Gibson SG.

The drummer was insanely good at times. The gig was short but I don't think anyone could complain when you saw how much effort they put in. Great gig

I saw them headline the Saturday main stage at a festival in Sydney in April, MASSIVE stage, huge crowd, and they still managed to blow everyone away. Its such a pleasure to watch and listen to two guys make that great a sound. They were great on Monday too but it will be this gig that I remember: http://boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/great-escape-festival/saturday/the-black-keys-005.JPG.html http://boudist.com/gallery/v/gigs/great-escape-festival/saturday/the-black-keys-019.JPG.html

Hope to get an earful of "Magic Potion" soon, tho I doubt its wildly different to the previous stuff. (No bad thing.) I wonder do they still record their albums in one day...? I heard that's what they did before.
