seeing as i didn't go and i want to be all bitter and twisted and maybe a touch elitist, how did it compare to last year?... was just off the phone to my brother and he said that it had definitely lost something - he said the extra 7,000 people really made it seem much larger and with the fact that everyone was camping and there was no daytrippers.... also, as a result of that, amenities weren't quite as good... all in all, he thought some of the vibe had been lost and it was one step away from becoming just another festival... anyone care to add? not really wanting to put a downer on it... oh ok, maybe i am...

Yeah, not as good as last year. Still good mind you, but the extra numbers made a difference. The camping was way more spread out, whereas last year everyone seemed much closer. The line-up wasn't was strong as last year either, so that was a factor for me too. Overall it's lost some of it's communal vibe, but if it stays this size and gets more 'must see'' acts, it'll still be the hot festival ticket next summer.

I wasn't at it last year but I think part of peoples amazement at how great it was was because it was new and different (ok it was on the year before but it was just a day "boutique" thing then). This year it was not so new coupled with the fact the lineup was a bit weak, I'm not surprised people are saying it wasn't as good. Apparently next year it will be staying the same size, you can expect tickets to move super fast and I suppose some will be onsale before Christmas too?. One of the best things about it is it's size, its a mini glastonbury where you can move from one stage to another in a minute and walk right up the front.

Let me the first to say that 2006 was better than 2007. The best EP was in 2002, great communal atmosphere.

ummm, wasn't the first 'leccy picnic in 2004? *has James Murphy "I was there..." moment* ...either that or I'm losing my brain, never mind me edge.

Yeah, he means 2004. I heard that was a complete shambles though. From what I saw on TV I don't think it was as good as last year but I wasn't there of course...

EP 2005 had Arcade Fire, EP 2006 did not, that alone is enough to tip the scales in last years' festival's favour.

It was sorta all over the shop, but very pleasant. The various teething problems didn't kill the overall atmosphere, had a great day, maybe it wasn't the same for everyone, but I enjoyed it. What sorta totally ruined it for me was making it a multi-day festival. Immediately turned it from a relaxed festival for 25+ year olds with other stuff to do, where you could turn up to without much planning other than buying tickets and filling up the car with petrol and friends to something that actually required commitment and planning.
