hey all, long time no post. Just on the whole Daft Punk scam... was at this house party last month, these two dj's were playing of a set of iPod decks. Anyway it was one of the best DJ sets I've ever heard, kinda like the whole radio soulwax thing, cool electro-dance and cheesey pop stuff with funky motown esque soul and indie rock. The really cool thing was the guys, iDave and iJim/Jon, attitude, there wasn't the whole 'i'm a dj' bag with them. They had cool visuals and really didn't take it all that seriously. The comparision was they had developed these 'Daft Punk' esque iPod evangelist personas, and could have pre-mixed the whole set (they didn't as I inspected them mixing - they had five iPods on the go). The refreshing thing was there was very little posing and pretending to live mix as many other DJ's do. That didn't stop them being good show men. my girlfriend is turing 21 soon and I want to see if they'd do her party. Would apprecaite any information about where to reach these guys. Do they have a regular gig in town. Anyone?

Seems a bit strange (and gimmicky in a consumer whore sorta way) to use iPods to DJ, far easier to use something like Abelton live running on a laptop to mix MP3s surely?

perhaps... don't really get the technical aspect, they're pretty cool and put on a show and the tunes are savage.

Yea, I s'pose it's the music not the medium that matters.

Nope, just know how to use Google I was watching that entrepeneur show on BBC, 'Dragons Den'. One lad had an interesting piece of software for his site, where you download tunes you want & the software he has developed mixes the tracks into eachother seemlessly, rather than the fade in/out nature of normal downloaded music. http://www.mixalbum.com/main/about_us
