RDS was in 97 with Massive Attack & Teenage Fanclub.
Radiohead played Punchestown in 2000, in a big tent.

In all fairness Paddy Casey and Pearl Jam are as bad as each other.

How about Hot House Flowers & Grove Armada supporting Pixies and Red Hot Chilli's in Park a year or two ago, or UB40 supporting Bob Dylan?

The fella who opened for Jape last Friday was ... not my cup of tea. Forget who it was but the openers for Wolf Parade last year were woefuly mismatched, not a bad band just unsuited for that gig.
Worst opening act I've ever seen was in New York last year when a band called Morningwood (quite possibly the worst band I've ever seen) opened for The Wrens.

Were they The Shakes ?
I just remember a very bad jumper on the guitarist. He had skanger written all over him, the kind who listen to The La's on end at partys.

That's them, were I putting The Coral on in Dublin I'd have them play but they didn't work with WP.

i just started laughing when he opened with the drugs don't work...what the f**k like? went and sat in the bar until Jape.
worst pairing i've seen - Ian Brown supporting the Manics in the Point and twice in Cardiff in 2002. he taunted the glammed up fans in the front few rows every night and completely lost it at one of the Cardiff gigs. he started throwing full bottles of water with the caps on at some people in the crowd and had to be restrained by his band. fair enough he was getting loads of s**t from people but y'know he could've come up with some more original comebacks than bending over and acting like a homophobic idiot.

Oooh that's just not on!
The line-up at the RHCP gig in Slane two (three?) years ago, as good as some of the bands were, was horribly mismatched

Was that the one where PJ Harvey was on between Feeder and Queens Of The Stone Age? She played a great set but the majority of the crowd were less than impressed. The worst pairings are always at festivals. I can remember a bunch of pilled up Paul Okenfold fans being very confused by Beck at Creamfields a few years ago.

Tommy Tiernan sandwiched between Tortoise and Stereolab in the Olympia in 1996 was hilarious. I thought he was fairly funny on the night, but the crowd of scenesters just were so NOT into it. He finished up by saying "sorry, wrong time and place".
