That's funny cos whenever I hear The Frames I feel like beating someone also, preferably Glen Hansard.

When I interviewed Daniel Kessler from Interpol a few years ago he said that that was something he’d love to do – not as Interpol but on his own….
Had some interesting ideas too – I’d like to hear/see that collaboration… whether or not that ever happens tho is a sceal eile…

Mogwai had two songs on the new 'Miami Vice' soundtrack. I think Bonnie 'Prince' Billy was working on one too. Then there's Kevin Shields, who is working on another soundtrack for Sofia Coppola in 'Marie Antoinette'.
Broken Social Scene are doing the music for a new movie called 'Half Nelson'. Check out the trailer for it here - http://www.apple.com/trailers/thinkfilm/halfnelson

In the case of 'One From The Heart', he actually wrote all original material for the film. Fine album it is too.
I'd like to see him do more soundtrack work, but it all depends on what type of movie it is.

He already has. He composed and performed the entire score (most of which was instrumental) for Jim Jarmusch's 1992 film "Night on Earth". Good luck finding the soundtrack though. It's out of print and it usually costs an arm and a leg on ebay.

Yes, and he's done more. Another one is American Heart (or something like that?). I think Jeff Bridges was in it, also near impossible to get.
I think 'One From The Heart' is the only one that stands alone as an album in itself, if you know what I mean. The thing about most original soundtracks is the incidental music tailored for a particular scene rarely works by itself.
Apparently he's acting in at least one movie this year, so we might see something new.

yeah "one from the heart" is excellent, for which he got an oscar nod!...how about the plays he did, "alice", "the black rider", "Franks wild years" and "blood money"...would these just be considered musicals??

Blood Money was based on the songs he and his wife wrote for a production of the german play 'Woyzeck', so you could sort of call that a musical.
Anyone ever see 'Big Time', his concert movie? It's freaking deadly.
