I really have to go back and listen to this record because I wasn't impressed with it at all.

It takes a few spins to get into. Was non-plussed on first listen but the shuffle function on my iPod sporadically threw me a few standout Islands songs that sent me back to the album. "Volcanoes" is an excellent tune. Would recommend a follow-up dose of "Rough Gem." If you can't appreciate those tunes then Islands ain't for you. If you can, then delve into the rest of the album at will.

The album is quite good alright. J'aime Tambour dropped out of the band though recently but the gig is still going ahead.

Yeah, I read that last week. Pitchfork always seem to be on the ball ahead of the rest.

Album is very good alright. Track 1, Swans, 9 minutes 30 seconds fair play to them!! A Tuesday night can't make the gig unfortunately.

I am hugely looking forward to this as "Return To The Sea" is my #2 record of the year to date.

I covered the Arcade Fire connection in the review of the album I wrote for the site, I think it's still on the main page, if it's not click on the more album review link.
Like I said, I think this'll be really good but with Tambeur's departure the only person on the record who'll be at the Sugar Club will be Nick Diamonds but I guess as the main songwriter he's the most important one to have around.

What's the number 1, out of curiosity?

"He Poohs Clouds" at the minute but I somewhat doubt it's longevity.

Didn't get that one yet, waiting for Road to restock. Saw him play in Whelans a while back and he was outstanding. Just a fiddle and a foot-pedal. Wow! One of the best gigs this year so far.

This is a late gig by the way. Doors are at 10, I think showtime will be 11.

Well what did ye think? I thought it was very good, seemed to be a few new songs in there, well ones i didn't know from the album anyway. Friendly bunch of guys. Return to the Sea is my favorite album so far this year.

Thought it was very good. One of the best gigs I've seen in Ireland this year.
I wonder if Nick actually did ring someone when he robbed that guy's phone during "Humans".

Thought it was hugely enjoyable, and a little surreal with all those baseball heads there. What was all that about??
Must admit I didn't expect such a big crowd for it. It is an excellent album and thought it translated live really well...
