Anyone head to this on Sat night? Thought it desevered a thread!
Twas a good enough turn out. Missed the first 3 bands so cant comment. Well I caught the end of 'Fast Emperors' from Belfast. Sounded pretty decent.
Though Ham Sandwich were quite good - never seen them before.
Ed Zealous - another Belfast band were after them. Tight and the singer had a good voice but it was all a bit too reminiscent of a Snow Patrol buzz for me. Altho maybe a little heavier.
Sickboy were legend. Got a seriously good response from the crowd - people were goin pretty rasher! And Aleko were pretty banging too - two bands definitly worth seeing live over the next while if yous get a chance.

yeah, I was there. Missed the first band, but caught everything else. Ham Sandwich were great, but I thought they played a better set in Crawdaddy the Wednesday before. Was well impressed with Aleko. Thought Sickboy got a great reaction, but wasn't really feeling their tunes. A great lineup though.

missed the last two bands as i'd to shoot to another gig,
but was very impressed with most, if not all, of the other 6.
Ham Sandwich and Butterfly Explosion were great.

Ham Sandwich were rather good. That Sad Songs tune is great.
Sound in there was pants though, was straining to make out guitars at all. Moved right up front and was hearing them direct from the amps, nothing coming through the PA. I hate the village.

Well, I missed the Ruby Tailights (who I'd specificly gone to see) but was treated with Sickboy. Loved their energy and despite the ropey Village sound, they did do very well. The last band, whoever they were, came accross a bit too Killers for me so I legged it mid-set.
MESSAGE TO HAM SANDWICH -- CHANGE YOUR NAME!!!!

Ruby Tailights didn't really work in the setting because it was pretty "rawky". Dude has a good voice too.
Am I the only one who thinks Ham Sandwich is a great name?

The last band was aleko and to be honest they are nothing like the killers at all at all, fer a start the killers are a pop band and don't have driving dirt chamber beats to back up their plim songs!

Aleko sound nothing like the Killers. I hate the way that every rock band that has synths now is said to sound like the Killers. There's a good vibe going on with rock bands chucking beats and synths in in Dublin at the moment. Saw Aleko and Noise Control in the past week and was well impressed with both.

Really? I thought they had severe sound problems at the start in Crawdaddy, I've seen them a lot and it was the first time the sound guy got the vocal balance wrong where Podge was louder than Niamh.
They've got a song called "Resilliance" which I think is amazing.

Aleko!!! Maybe my 'Killers' comparison was a bit lazy, but I still don't think they were any good. It's very easy to make a drum beat you know :-+
