Most lazy piece of journalistic pomp i have ever seen. The songs are all the same ???????? absolute bull. "rhythm section which sounds like a series of lead weights being dropped on a hard wood floor"- are you for real, tell me that is a joke. I guess the chillis are a soft target not playing straight 4/4 with television rip off riffs backed up by cheesy 80's keyboards.

To be honest, id agree with the fact that all of the chilli peppers songs these day sound like clones of songs off californication. A real disappointement for me that they are headling one of the days at oxegen

I didn't realise Dani California was a new chillis tune. It took a friend comlaining about it for me to realise it was indeed a 'new' song

one of the most horrific falls from grace if ever there was one. I remember the days when RHCP were actually rather funkaliciously good.... vaguely...

Lazy? I thought it was pretty well written myself and genuinely entertaining. I do think Jules is in danger of becoming the Jeremy Clarkson of music journalism though.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik is for me still one of the best albums of all time. But lets face it, they havent moved on at all from californication, which only had a few good tracks anyway. I would have, back in the day, claimed to be one of the biggest chilis, but stadium arcadium is nothing but a disappointment. think its time they went in a different direction or hung up the instruments.

In fairness to them they have been together for 23 years. I don't know if there are many acts who can still put out top-quality albums after that long. That's not to say I would buy (or even download) the new album. Nor would I dream of going see them in concert. But at least they're still doing what they do. I'd say writing edgy, funky rock music becomes a lot harder when you're mid forties veterans with kids, drug histories and back problems than when you're young lads full of passion, ideas and a bit of nerve. What I means is I don't resent them just because they're long past their prime.

There's plenty of other reasons to resent them.

Entertaining blah blah A review written to reflect what the writer thought everyone would wanted to hear. Typical music journalist bull where they give no brainer criticisms and take cheap shots at bands. Before i even read a review i tell what lazy journalists are going to say about certain bands. Its ironic that Journalists circle established bands like vultures for any sign of unoriginality and yet never take the time to say something new themselves. The criticism of the rythm section is ridiculous to say the least. To say the chili peppers have been writing the same album since Californican is rubbish. By the Way was really physicedlic and dancey in feel in comparison ( and IMO a pretty crap album). This album is a rounding up of all their flavours and vastly better than the last two albums.

You almost make it sound as if you're the first person to disagree with a review of a band you like. Get over it, sensible people these days mostly download something before they go out and buy it and some don't even bother buying it. Are you worried that the review will sway people from buying it or feel its an injustice that someone voiced their own opinion and this clashes with your own thinkings?

Doesnt affect me either way. Just stating MY OPINION on the writing in the review. Conflicting opinion is what makes art, journalism, politics and the world generally tick. I have a problem with people who indulge in the obvious, boring and unfounded. Too tell me to get over it or basically shut up and then ask if i have a problem with someone disasgreeing with me is a contradiction. If no one is to comment/discuss on reviews/music then what pre tell is the point of this website. Agree to disagree is always the best policy just thought i would comment on this cause it really struck me at the time.

in fairness to loserbrian, he's dead right - more people should make use of the boards to say what they think of the articles on the site, especially for unfavourable reviews of an act you love. if you love/hate the reviews, then give us (the writers) your feedback... ...of course, then the next step is to submit your own reviews! as for RHCP, I really liked the songs on 'bloodsugar...' and 'one hot minute'('my friends' is a smashing song). however, their singles of the last few years have been very samey, like a photocopy of a photocopy of 'californication' as kloot said - 'dani california' is fairly bland stuff compared to how catchy and original they have been... in my opinion
