right,
apologies if this has been covered here before, but I went to check out tickets for the Electric Picnic today, and I came accross this.....
There is just one type of ticket this year which is a weekend ticket that includes camping. (There are no day tickets.)
Tickets are €175 which is for three days plus camping.
I'd really like to have everyone thoughts on this, cause to me this is a f**king sham.

well agreed, but at the same time for people who cant spend all 3 days at the festival for one reason or another its a bit unfair, its great that they are trying to create a festival vibe and that by having people stay on site for the 3 days, but anyway .

I'm all in favour of just having a weekend ticket. Better atmosphere, no day trippers etc. Works for Glastonbury

I'm kind of annoyed because 'leccy picnic started off as a one day event, so it didn't really take any planning whatsovever to go and you could recover the next day. The totally relaxed feel of a 1 day event was brilliant, I wish it had stayed that way. Quality over quantity.

REally? Wasn't at the first one but I heard it was a disaster due to massive queues for bars, tiolets, buses etc because it was just a one day thing??

Yeah, I'll admit the first one was not entirely hassle free. Toilets were no worse than any other festivals. I heard stories that people taking the bus had a hard time but I took the car and parking was well organised. Also, since I was driving, I wasn't drinking so beer was non-issue for me. Food was pretty good for a festival too.
What I liked was since it was only a day trip, there was none of that packing a tent and making sure you have everything nonsense. Just buy tickets, completely forget about it for couple of weeks, then on the day, jump into the car with a mate and a map and thats it, no thinking or organisation neccesary on my part. Maybe I just oughta buy a camper van for these two day festivals? :D

If you want a day trip can you not just go to Garden Party? Same organisers, same musical policy.

Hadn't really thought of that Stroller to be honest, looking at the lineup however, now that Toots and The Maytalls have pulled out, theres a lot of good acts, but not a killer act (for me anyway)out of the main ones that makes me really, really want to go.
Got a full lineup of bands anyway?

no day tickets is cool with me but as for reasons why they're only selling weekend tickets - perhaps the increase in capacity has something to do with it. not sure how much it's gone up by but less people coming for a day or not camping = lots more space for people who want to camp seeing as it sold out last year. or at least i think it did.

does anyone know when the next batch of bands are being added to the lineup?
so far its pretty good but theres no one there thats made me wee my pants with excitement (unless they get kraftwerk back again)
i doubt it'll sell out until the last minute as people will probably think twice about splashing out €180 for a camping ticket.

According to my mate who works at the Ticket Master desk in a record shop there are about 2000 tickets left. Assuming that all the tickets were released in one go that means that 93% of the tickets are already sold. I reckon it'll sell out before the end of June.

Yes, seeing Kraftwerk on the bill last year made EP absolutely unmissable for me. This year there is not much on the bill that makes it absolutely essential to go. A handful of great bands (Massive, YYYs, Blue Nile, Gang Of Four) but nothing special.

I had to miss last year unfortunately, but everyone I sopke to who did go said it was awesome. Thing is I don't think the lineup is as strong this year like some of you are saying. So that coupled with the ticket price, sorry I might becoming accross as a moany old toss here, but anyway..
