To those who are well-initiated in all things MySpace – I need your help…
If you have sussed out how to upload more than 2 songs to a MySpace account you might be able to help us, read on…
We have been having some hassle in uploading to the MySpace account the MP3s of two of the bands (Delorentos and The Chapters) so can anyone shed some light on what might be going on? Problem is as follows:
- It appears that my uploading of these 2 MP3s goes fine (I get through to the ‘Finishing’ bit and then it asks for me to upload a photo, which I can also upload without a hitch)
- These uploaded MP3 files then appear with status “Processing’ but a few minutes later that changes to “File Error! Delete and Re-Upload Your File”
- I have tried the upload numerous times and consistently get the same problem.
- The 2 MP3 files in question are both less than the 6 MB limit, so it’s not that
- The 2 MP3 files have filenames with simple letters, are less than 10 letters in length and have no unusual characters (e.g. ! + - _ / ? > < { })( @ : ; etc)
- One thing I do note is that the songs giving the trouble I originally downloaded from the 2 bands’ respective MySpace pages, and the other 2 songs that did not give any hassle were not downloaded from MySpace. That made me think that maybe MySpace adds a sliver of secret MySpace data (or meta data) into uploaded MP3s which (draws deep breath) then identify them as MySpace originating files, and that the MySpace upload tool could identify them as such and then doesn’t allow them to be to uploaded a second time by another account holder (got that?). However that theory went out the window when, as a test, I tried to upload another non-MySpace originating Mp3 file and got the same error (“File Error! Delete and Re-Upload Your File”)
Any ideas folks? Am I missing something embarrassingly obvious? All help appreciated.
