when it comes to live shows...accept no other..one of the best gigs i've been at this year so far..and i dont think it will be beaten..bruce on stage with a 17 piece band, playing his new album the seeger sessions..and what a show it was,at times it felt like i was in a new orleans club in the sixties..the style of music for the nite was a mixture of blues/gospel/folk/dirty jazz!!..it was like the pogues crossed with bob dylan!! the gang arrived on stage just after 8 and played until near 11,playing most of the new album and a couple of old favourites in his new ram-jam style playing "johnny 99" and a version of "my city of ruin"..which had the crowd softly singing along with him,i'd say the hairs on everyones neck was standing!..through out his set there was great banter with the crowd, giving us the history of the songs, and tieing them in with todays events ie. the war in iraq and hurricane in new orleans..he didnt over do ot with the statements letting the songs do most of the talking..also was not without its funny moments telling us how an irish friend rang him up after the album was released calling him a "dumb americian bas#ard...its mcgrath...not magrraa!!!"..refferring to the way he pronounced the the name in the song..also during one of the songs he nearly knocks his wife out with his guitar,at the end of the song he try's to say sorry..but not quit finding the words so after nearly 3 hours of playing and two encore's..the boss finish's the nite with an amazing verion of "when the saints come marching in.." words can not describe how good this was.. at the end..he said "this is the first stop of our tour Dublin..and you've made it memorible for us"...... he made it memorible for us!!!

Couldnt agree more, one of the best gigs I have been to in a long long time. Although the songs being played were penned decades and some over a century ago, there was still something very refreshing about it. Havent seen so much energy come off a stage in years. Absolute magic.
