Dunno if there are many Go Betweens fans on the board, but I absolutely loved 'em and am devastated by the news of Grants death. By all accounts he was a lovely bloke and he and his music will be very sadly missed.

Yeah, very saddened to hear this, they were just getting back into their stride after reforming. A huge loss, really.

That is tragic, tragic news... The Go-Betweens were one of my all time fave bands and most of his solo stuff is fantastic too...What happened to him?

Few details have been released. Apparently he felt unwell and died in his sleep on Saturday.

Counldn't believe this when I read it today. He was a huge talent. GB one of my all time favourite band and I was lucky to see them when they first reformed in the (then) mean fidler in town. For any fans, get the DVD (Stripped Sunlight Sound) not only do u get live gig and cdof live gig, but also Grant and Robert perforaming 10 or so songs in one of their houses and telling storries about how the songs cam about. Obvious from this he was a really nice guy. I am sad today.

It keeps jolting me.. Their songs were sad enough as it was.. Now I'm gonna be a mess listening to my iPod on the way home... Absolute tragedy

If anyone would like to add some thoughts about Grant, or read those of others, you can do so here.... Among the contributors are a couple of Teenage Fannies and a Trashcan Sinatra along with some Irish music names... http://go-betweens.org.uk/cgi-bin/chatroom/discus.cgi?pg=topics

"what happened to him?" he had a heart attack. Only 48. So sad. The Go-Betweens are such a sweet band and the fact that they continued to make brilliant music up until very recently is testimony to their skill as song writers.
