Saw The Dresden Dolls in the Music Centre last night. One of the best gigs I have ever been to. Absolutely amazing. Beyond brilliant.

i was there, una... did you not think the novelty covers bit in the middle was a bit naff?... that said, the show (especially coin operated boy, half jill half jack and girl anachronism) was pretty great all round

Ah glad to hear this was good
Wanted to go myself but was a toss up between that and The Slits last night - not sure if it was worth it tho for the simple reason that I actually don’t remember much The Slits at ALL...
Oh how I am in pain today
Hangover from HELL

no, thought the covers were excellent, especially Such Great Heights.
Didn't catch Chuzzle, but I've seen them a bunch of times before - great band.
I just still cannot get over how amazing the Dresden Dolls drummer is.

the drummer was quite good, wasn't he?.... although i'm sure there are a lot of better drummers out there - they just don't play in indie / rock / punk bands...
i really despised the covers section, actually - for me, it was where the gig turned from really original biting punk cabaret into just cabaret... but i was tired... and near the back...
...overall, i still loves the dresden dolls, especially amanda palmers' black and white stockings

Una, did a dude called Tom Truax support at TBMC? Apparently he's supporting them around (most of) Europe and is supposed to be quite good. Assembles his own instruments and drum machines including:
-The Hornicator
-The Cadillac Beatspinner Wheel
and
-The Sister Spinster

Gosh, I didn't realise you and Jan were a bit iffy on it, palace! I really enjoyed it (Port of Amsterdam apart). I thought War Pigs was fairly fantastic too :D I suppose Girl Anachronism does seem like the high water mark of the art form, so to speak.
(The less said about Chuzzle the better. I'd thought he was interesting/bad/different rather than insanely dull/bad/different. Someone explain to me what I'm missing though. Is it to do with the red shirt?)

my feet were sore, dera, and i just wanted to hear the songs i knew and loved... i never much cared for war pigs, anyway (am i allowed to say that?) and i felt like i could have been in an irish bar in boston swaying to the two leprachauns or the diddly-i-di band for the rest of that section...
but as i said before, the songs i loved (from the first album) were really quite wonderful and the show was as majestic as i had expected

saw them a few times in boston-i dunno i feel like they put on a great show and they are no doubt entertaining/fascintating to watch but its not like i would ever put on a CD of theirs- i think its the aesthetics that make it
