For all you devout White Stripes fans: Here's the new Coke ad that borrows as much from Michel Gondry as it does from the colour palette of Mary Poppins - There's also a new tune by Jack White in there.

After you've killed several Columbians, anything Coca-Cola do afterwards is a step up in good taste. I still drink the stuff though, damn you Coca-Cola and your caffeine rich sweet satanic nectar! damn you all to hull! (like hell, but easier to send people to by train)

not that i want to get political... but that whole banning coke from ucd thing a few years ago was just a joke... as for the dead columbians, that was to do with the independent bottlers that coke had sub-contracted at the time, if my memory serves me right, a contract soon terminated if my memory also serves me right... so coke are a big multi-national "baddy" but it's quite easy to blur your views

"Here's the deal, folks. You do a commercial - you're off the artistic roll call, forever. End of story. Okay? You're another whore at the captialist gang bang and if you do a commercial, there's a price on your head. Everything you say is suspect and every word that comes out of your mouth is now like a turd falling into my drink." - Bill Hicks

Like the Densmore article. Went to see Riders on the Storm/Doors last week, got the ticket as a present. They were much better than they should have been, in fact it was a great gig, crowd really up for it, despite being in the RDS. They could have done with Densmore's subtle touch, the one critism I would have being the drummer was a bit too "RAAWK" for the music. But would recommend it to anyopne who liked the doors.

I like bill hicks, but he isn't some kind of god that is always right. This s**t coming from the guy who continually supported the big bad tobacco companies.
A Bill Hick's quote should come under Godwin's law

Never liked Jack Wh*te and the Sh*te Stripes anyway, always thought they were poseurs, this just confirms it, he made a career ripping off the Fat Possum catalogue, pr*ck.

Hard to be original in the blues I'd imagine. I like em a lot. I think he's a great songwriter, smart & simple lyricist & a great guitarist. The Coke stuff disappoints me & the recent Billy Childish nonsense was silly. Not sure what kind of a person he is. Seems very contradictory.
As for Fat Possum acts, I didnt realise they were bastions of originality.... Love the Black Keys tho..

Hicks didn't take money from a cigarette company and let them use his material. He promoted the idea that it was your own choice if you wanted to fukk your own body up. And of course noone is always 100% correct, some people along the way have just been a bit more enlightened than the rest of us (though if you did a bit of googling you'd find he softened his stance on this in later life).
How much money do you reckon Jack White needs to be happy?
