I just got this in work, and I have to say, it's the prettiest CD box I've got in quite a while. No case, just a small cardboard box with three cds in cardboard sleeves, two lyrics booklets and another mini booklet of sheet music plus a lovely sticker. IT'S SO NICE!
Just thought I'd share that. It's always nice to have some effort put into artwork - packaging. Anyone else care to add their happy clappy 'I love this record' stories?

The one I got was just a normal cd case that opens out so you can access the second cd. You must be special Una, getting all the nice one's!

i like the Nice Cave one -
Abattoir Blues / The Lyre Of Orpheus....
and actually the Murder Ballad one too
Nice packaging and little booklets n s**t.
On the opposite end I bought the vinyl of
SUR LAS TRACES DE BLACK ESKIMO by Les Georges Leningrad a while back and all i got inside was the CD inserts - even the back packaging! Not very impressed I must say.

Yeah that double Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds one is good, as is Guggenheim Grotto, ....And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Our Dead (mainly for the artwork) and Chris Rea 'Blue Guitars'.

only for old people, comet. Like me, clearly.
The With The Lights Out Nirvana boxset is attractive too. All silver and shiney.

Tool's Lateralus is pretty impressive to look at and hold. Could sit with that in my hands for hours.........(said the actress to the bishop )
I seem to remember a really amazing looking Spiritualised cover. Never got the cd, but I remember just staring at it every time I walked into a cd shop. Is it any good actually?

The rachel’s ‘music for egon schiele’ comes in beautiful packaging, wrapped in brown card with dark purple sketches of schiele, in fact their ‘the sea and the bells’ album is also beautifully packaged.
I think that spiritualized album your thinking of may have been ‘ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space’, if my memory serves me correctly there was a special edition of that which came out in a box shaped just like a pill….in terms of what it sounded like, I’d have it down as one of the most over-rated albums I’ve ever heard

the best packaging i've seen by a distance is the 'not alone' comiplation from jnana... it's like the nick cave abbatoir / lyre of orpheus but with 5 cd's, a bigger, cooler, hardback booklet with all 5 positioned like mini-lp's in a record stack - very, very lovely
