The powers that be: is it really neccesary to have bloody asterixs everywhere on this board? Can we not just swear? I certainly wouldn't take offense. who would like to add their names to this f**king petition?

the poor boy, everyone hates him. Although I suppose with 6 million in album sales already, 'poor' might be the wrong adjective. I remember doing his first interview in Ireland (the honour) before he played a free gig in Doyles very early last year and thinking he was taking the piss with his accent. He is a very pleasant person to chat to though, I interviewed him a bunch of times since and he's very nice indeed. Just thought I'd stick that in, in his defense. His music though, just not my thing, at all at all at all. Someone mentioned ear worms this week? Burrowing burrowing into my poor defenseless hungover skull. YOURE BEAUUUUUUTIFUUUUAAAALLLLLLLLLL

I'm getting straight on to Mary Whitehouse. The swearing here....I never heard the f**king like in all my life! One more thing....why do TV stations warn about offensive language during programmes even if they are on at 11 at night???Aren't all the kids in bed? What the f**k is that all about, for f**k's sake.

<Pious Prude Pontificates> This thread started out with a fair enough request to lift the cuss word filter, a request I have to admit I open to be persuaded upon - if presented with nice polite rational dissection of why this should be done (freedom of expression, ahhh why censor us we’re a responsible bunch of articulate muzak fans, etc, etc). However things quickly spiralled into a (yawn, yawn) I-can-cuss-more-than-you tit-for-tat (which also had next to nowt to do with muzak I also note, although I do recall some stuff about yer man James Bl**t, but I digress…). Anyway reading down through the thread I was pretty quickly convinced I should keep the **** filter just as it is. Decent discussion (of which there has been a fair ‘round here over the years) does not depend on profanity, nor do I think profanity nurtures engaging discussion (told ya I was a prude). “If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it” a sort of wise person once pointed out. So yeah, the discussions around here have been – in the main - engaging, informative and informed. And I don’t plan to “fix” that decent state of affairs by playing with one aspect of the formula that may (or may not) be a key part of what makes people decide this Board is a place worthy of repeat visits. Final observation: I know of many other music discussion boards where there is no cuss-word filter and I have to say I often find that a noticeable proportion of threads descend into yawn-inducing profanity-laced exchanges, not too dissimilar to what I just read above. May I be clear: I have ZERO aspirations to take even the slightest risk in steering the CLUAS board in such a direction. </Pious Prude Pontificates> Short version of the above: I am not going to f**k with the formula. eoghan

Pity Don't you trust the readers enough to be able to make points equally as well with curses as they do now? Of course, people still curse on here, just cuz it gets ****'d doesn't change that. Ah well, it is your board after all.
