I was at the T in the Park in 1998 and had a f*cking whale of a time. I've always been meaning to go back. It clashes with Poxegen which is a pain as even though I share everyone's hate of Poxegen, I'd miss seeing the Irish bands at it.

I was at sziget in Budapest last year and it was pretty amazing. Blew away any other festival I'd been to anyway (Witnness/Oxegen, Reading, Electric Picnic). Goes on for a week so you're there for 8 nights which is a lot which can probably be kind of a good thing and a bad thing. If you get festival-ed out you can head in to the city and relax in the hot baths! It takes up this entire island in the middle of the city, so much stuff on it. Anyway, well recommended.

So Oxegen is sold out, Electric Picnic is about to announce it's headliners and Glastonbury isn't on. Where else is there to go? Well Benicassim, Coachella, Bonnaroo and Pitchfork seem the most attractive options. Anybody going to any of those?

saw the pixies and wilco there a few years ago (2004) - amazing festival. great location, great vibe. plus the headliners go on at 4 in the morning so you really do get your money's worth from the whole thing. and it's BARCELONA, which is about a zillion times better than Punchestown Racecourse.

Yes I have been to primavera. Its brill. Was there a few years ago caught - Teenage Fanclub , Belle & Sebastian & the go-betweens in one night. Atmosphere is great and the main venue is in an old castle complex in Barcelona would recommend it highly as a festival to check out.

Was at Bonnaroo in Tennessee in 2004. Best festival I ever attended in terms of set-up and the crowd. Bob Dylan, Ween, Primus, David Byrne, mrnorth, Kings of Leon all played. Would recommend it to anyone going stateside for the summer. Nearest airport is Huntsville AL or Chatanooga, TN. Also went to Roskilde in Denmark in 99, 2000 (when 9 kids died at Pearl Jam) and 2001. Would thoroughly recommend as you can camp for a whole week (Eur180 for tickets) and the music is on for four days. As a result of the 2000 incident, it=s probably the safest festival in the world (pun intended)

Yes, going to both days of Coachella and the Sunday at Sasquatch (Beck is headlining). Should be fun. Next year, I might try SXSW and Bonnaroo.

That Sasquatch looks decent alright and Coachella always seems to attract good performers. I reckon that Pitchfork is the best value for money though - $30 for 36 bands over 2 days.

I considered going to the Pitchfork thing last year, the lineup was incredible but it's insanely expensive to get flights to Chicago in the summertime. It's not Summer but the ATP lineup for May looks incredible.

Would recommend Roskilde and ATP. Both excellent. Sonar in Barcelona was really good once, but it's gone a bit s**t recently since residents complained about volume levels and ordered the Sonar By Day to stop at six in the evening. Sonar by Night goes on through the night but it's a pretty much of a pillfest in an airport hanger. Wouldn't bother travelling to the States solely for a festival. Except for the Autonomous Mutant Festival. I'd like to try the Secret Garden Party in Cambridge or the Green Man.
