(I am hauling this thread out of the archive for the benefit of newcomers who may not be aware of this board feature)
I am sure a good number of regulars here are already aware of “Active Topics” page on this board and, if you are, you probably don’t need to read this post. However if you do not know about the “Active Topics” page then you should really read on and find out about one of the most time-saving features of the discussion board…
The “Active Topics” page (http://www.cluas.com/discussion/active.asp) brings you to a page where it lists, sub-forum by sub-forum, all the topics which have been active since your last visit (an “active” topic is one that has had a new reply added to it since your previous visit). Maybe your current practice is that when you visit the discussion board you go in and out of each sub forum to see what topics are new. I strongly recommend that instead you go straight to the “Active Topics” page as this gives you one single page where you can see everything (I repeat: everything) new that has happened since your last visit. Basically it is an excellent one-stop shop for the board. My advice is that you go and visit the “Active Topics” page right now, check it out, add it then to your Browser Bookmarks / Favourites and change your habits so that it becomes the first page you visit when you come to the CLUAS discussion board. Try it now:
http://www.cluas.com/discussion/active.asp (there is also a link to “Active Topics” in the menu at the top of every discussion board page)
It works whether you are signed in or not (there is just one exception to this: If you visit the discussion board on one computer (such as your work computer) and you are not signed in to the board on that computer and then, say, a day later you visit the “active topics” page from a different computer (maybe your computer at home) then the “Active Topics” page will not give you a list of the active topics since the time you visited on the other computer.)
Give it a whirl and feel free to reply to this topic with any opinions on how the active topics page (positively or negatively) effects your CLUAS discussion board, er, experience.
