My doctor has just prescribed me this show as a cure for my insomnia. My bed time is usually at half eleven but i think I will go with his advice. He did warn me of the side effects of watching James Bland and co. (possibility of slipping into a coma) but I think its worth the risk!!

Probably the best music programme on any channel you're likely to find. Sadly, it gets off to a bad start with the godawful Blunt but things should improve...Now with added interviews.

Yeah, I like it too, but 11.30 is way past my bedtime (I know, that's sad). Is it repeated at any decent hour? RTE usually repeat like a bad burger....

Last night was decent enough, except for the fact that they only showed one song by Vyvienne Long. About time that they did some interviews too. I still think they should release the series' on dvd with an option of seeing all the live footage for each performer.

Not crazy about the new format, would rather more live footage than interviews and the like. And there was far too much James Blunt.

Those Blunt moments made me want to have a shower. Even watching him made me feel like a cheesed**k.
Although it was hilarious when he tried to *rock out* with his session musicians.
The Walls went up a bit in my estimation last night though.
Not hugely, but a bit.

james blunt sings kinda funny.
the walls are slightly better than i'm going to pretend that i allow myself to admit.
vivienne long only got one song? is this what'll happen to all the new bands on this like the immediate, pinky, humanzee?

Thought Laura Cantrell was magic, everything else not so.
Always felt Steve and Joe Wall could never decided whether they want to be a good roadhouse rock band or pretentious art rock w**kers.

yeah, Laura was great especially '2 seconds', really engaging interviewee....The Walls bored...Blunt's blandness is quite staggering.....V Long was a revelation, truly amazing, absolutely love her voice....

Did anyone see this?
The bit where Mike Scott was singing that Yeats poem, did anyone else expect him to start singing "This is the greatest song in the world... tribute". No?
will this war never end?

Programme 3 - 8th February
Duke Special, Clare Sproule, Stephen Fretwell, Elbow.
Great show this week.Unfortunately I am Kloot had to cancel so had to be replaced.
Elbow put in a fantastic performance, as expected, while I'd say alot of people will be surprised by how good Stephen Fretwell (and Band) are live.

The album is pretty mediocre but I saw him play solo in the ruby sessions last year and was very impressed.

the album is far from mediocre imho, but he does rather take things to a new level live. I saw him twice over the last year in Whelans and was blown away completly both times, actually the first gig was right up there with the best gigs I've been to if I'm honest, jaw dropping stuff. The Other Voices set was very good, but I dont think it gave as good an impression of how marvellous Stephen and his band are live.

Yeh, it's a pity they showed 2 solo songs from mr.fretwell as there were a couple of other great tunes with the band aswell. That's the only negative thing about the programme
