So according to Tom Dunne, the Pumpkins are to reform but only to play festivals.
Fantastic news for us Pumpkins fans of course, but the question I want answered is: will the stunningly attractive Melissa Auf Der Mar be playing bass with them ?
I can't be arsed trawling through a thousand fan sites so maybe some benign Cluas reader will do it for me. :D

personally, I'm hoping for the stunningly attractive James Iha to make an appearance. He's such a dreamboat.

But, but, but, but ... The Investivigative Journalist in me was crying out when I heard this yesterday.
The quotes used, have been on his Website since June, his last post on the site. I reckon its news now, because Booking them for Couchella is at an advanced stage, & was leaked.

Something for everyone in the audience, then.

From what I hear D'arcy is so Dohertyed out of it these days there's no way that she's in a fiy state to play.

I hope not, I always felt D'Arcy was an essential part of the Pumpkins. Billy was the mastermind, Jimmy was the engine room, James was the nice one, but I get the feeling that D'Arcy tended to be one that smacked Billy round the back of the head and told him "now you're just being stupid", which is kinda what he needs every so often. The proof? Machina, 'nuff said.

am i the only one in the world who thinks that Machina had some fantastic moments?
"Who wouldn't stand inside your love & Try Try Try", "Everlasting Gaze" has an AMAZING chorus which just makes the song for me. Only two tracks on it I am not mad about.

I dunno about that, I remember seeing an interview she and James did with Eddie Temple Morris (blast from the past wha? Remember when Zane Lowe was merely a sidekick?) on MTV around the time Adore came out and she seemed to be saying that Billy was near impossible to work with but what he did was so brilliant that she was willing to put up with it. Didn't sound to me like she stood up to him much.
Then again her willingness to say that in an interview could have meant that she was comfortable in letting him know that occasionaly he was a bit of a d**k.

There are one or two great moments on that record all right. Stand inside your love is a great slice of classic hard rock, however the rest of the songs just have great moments (like Everlasting Gaze or Heavy Metal Machine), then fall apart at the bridge. A thorougly frustrating album, could have been great if it weren't so overblown. It's all a bit too spinal tap.

Ya they tended to go that way a lot, though admittedly I haven't heard all of Machina. Haven't listened to them in ages, there's a band I have to get back into. Great to see i've even a slight chance to see them live though. Now if only Soundgarden would do the same...mmmm Chris Cornell.
