Nerraw,
Cheers for the suggestion. First things first I would rephrase your point as follows:
“With the huge wealth of knowledge here, it seems such a shame for the website to be so out of date contest wise. The album reviews are ancient, the most recent gig review is over a month old, from reading posts, plenty of people here have gone to dozens in the meantime, so why don’t more of us submit reviews for publication to the site?”
Back to your original point, there are two sides to the fact that there could be fresher content:
a) Frequency and freshness of content submitted to the site
b) Frequency with which new content is published to the site
In terms of (a) the quantity of album reviews that will be submitted (and subesequently published) on the site will visibly increase this year as we now have an arrangement where one of the CLUAS clan (stand up klootfan) has started receiving albums for review directly from record companies which he then posts out to CLUAS writers who want to review them. This was never the case in the past – reviews were submitted on a spontaneous basis after someone bought the album, etc.
In terms of (b) I am implementing a more sophisticated Content Management System that will allow for selected posters to get site privileges allowing them to update the content themselves. Realistically this is about 6 months off. In the meantime I am adding new content manually myself on a (more or less) weekly basis. But I can add nothing if nobody submits anything.
So if you want to see more and fresher content then start writing for the site. It’s that simple. Once you have an article published on the site you’ll be invited to join the super secret CLUAS writers mailing list where (for example) info on albums available for review (among other things) is shared and you can bag your own free CDs for review.
