My housemate (female, 25) yesterday freely admitted to liking Simply Red and stated that Mick Hucknall was "talented". She would number Modest Mouse, Interpol and Minotaur Shock amongst her favourite acts.
After performing the Heimlich on me, she was subjected to severe questioning.
Does anyone else think this is healthy? Should I move out?

I've had a promo copy of Simply Red's 'Simplified' lying in a pile of CDs in my flat for a while, untouched. But to end this argument, I will listen to it tonight, and see what it reaps.
Personally, I've always been revolted by Mick Hucknall as a human being. I've never understood why he gets so many chicks. I mean, he can't be that rich. I'd rather eat my own eyes than touch him.
I also think there's a lot of evidence that Mick Hucknall is the original ginger who gave the hair colour a bad name. Just for being so ewwwwwww.

If I had in any way decent judgement I wouldn't admit to this but...
I remember really digging that "Fairground" single that Simply Red released back in 1995. I even went so far as buying the CD single (for the, er, remixes). The only damage-limiting caveat I can offer is that nothing else they did ever caught my ear, just that one number.

I'm sure it was the Goodmen sample that you were digging ... You're off the hook on this one.

actually I like Holding Back The Years too. Dammit. And I never listened to the 'Simplified' record last night because 'Howl' @ Sugar Club got in the way, anyone head down? It was pretty cool.

simply red have some good tracks. no one could deny that Mick is a nob but its a bit short sighted to dismiss his output on account of that. the band themselves are really tight and are really good. some of tracks sound dated but then again they are very dated. some of the songsand i stress some are very good, im not usually one to let the truth get in the way of a good story, but do those kind of questions not imply something about the person asking it?
