I've just been listening to Smog. He does the neat trick of making songs that I think are quite short 7 minutes long without my realising. Who else do you think can do this? Off the top of my head I can only think of Sigur Ros. You know, when you're 3 minutes in to the song and think it's only been a few seconds.

Sigur Ros tracks feel like a lifetime to me, but then my attentio.... oooh look a GREEN car!

smog definitely do that lil' trick more than anyone else, i reckon... guess it's just the way his voice and every note holds your attention... the whole of spiderland by slint seems to slip by quite quickly when all the songs are between 6 and 9 minutes... that 14 minute sun kil moon song (doo kim?) travels by in half the time... i dunno, smog wins for me
