i saw them earlier in the year in the olympia, i love their songs but i just thought as a live act they aren't amazing. they dont really put on a show, and i dont mean that in an X Factor/Robbie Williams way, just that there was no/ very little interaction with the crowd, besides the singer and drummer changing for a song nothing really happened on stage. personally i cant help but feel it is this type of lack of personality that is the reason that they aren't enormous(though that is not necessarily a criticism). Their songs are amazing and have been getting better since Lost souls and the current album is brilliant and would lend itself to live performances, I just dont think that live they do themselves justice. sorry that this is off the thread of last nights doves gig, more an opinion of Doves live. I still think they are a great band and one of my favourites, their most recent album being one of the best releases this year.
