He really does pick some awful partners in crime, it's a long running tradition, Clannad, Andrea Corr (Evan Dando and Sabrina Brooke also had a version of "Summer Wine" around then and it was definitely better). His version of "under my skin" with Sinatra was just, well, a little weird....

I like the Sinatra duet, even if Frank did think he was singing with Cher's hubby.

I liked the clannad duet i think was probably the first time actually sounded like a talented singer. And just cos clannad are a trad group doesn't mean they are rubbish. if anyone know rubbish when they hear it its me

James! What the devil are you doing here? I thought you were down in Kerry doing that dashed 'Other Voices' gig?

Nothing technically wrong with his vocal delivery as such, it's just such an mind numbingly dull piece of music, and yes, being trad doesn't automatically make you rubbish, but Clannad seem to have achieved rubbishness despite the odds anyway. I'll admit I'm not familiar with Clannads entire back catalogue so I'm sure someone will probably point out some fantastic poitin, cocaine and fig rolls fuelled session they did in 1974 or something, but sadly the only stuff I've heard from them seems to be awful psuedo-celtic new age gubbins AND they unleashed Enya on the world, which is pretty hard to forgive them for. Going back to Bonos duet with Sinatra, its that that I really dislike or anything, but it doesn't really work that well. Personal opinion of course.

yeah, Mary J is a legend. That Summer Wine one with Andrea on the other hand. Brutal. also worth a mention in the brutality stakes is the one he did with Wycleff Jean. ugghhhhghghghghghghghghgh.
