RTE entertainment have the Rolling Stones down for Phoenix Park on 18 August 2006. Would this be one of those "Got to seem before they die" gigs. Not a stones fan myself. In the sense that id listen to their music if it was on, but not pick up an album if I saw it in a shop.

love the stones, but for some reason have never been compelled to see them live. it'd be like a cartoon, since the sold start me up to billsoft i've no desire to increase their wealth

Never really heeded the Stones until i got Exile on Main St. which is great stuff. It's worth picking up. You'd be unfortunate not to pay more than 9.99 for it. Gives a glimpse of why people rant and rave about their old glory days Apparently there are a few more (from the 60's) that are up to the same standard, Let it Bleed, Beggars Banquet etc. Don't think i'd be arsed seeing them live though. Tickets will probably cost an arm and a leg anyway.

Anyone hear the Stones most recent single "never make a saint outta me" (or something like that anyway). It's not bad, It's not brilliant either, but they don't embarrass themselves and its pretty well recorded.

I could be wrong but that sounds like a track from the 1990's 'Bridges to Babylon' album. Yep, Original Release Date: September 30, 1997

Should be a belter, live at their worst they are still better than many at their best...set lists on the tour suggest 4/5 tracks from the new album, three/4 tracks from voodoo lounge and bridges to babylon, and the rest (standard is 27 songs which 1.5 times that bob d played the other night)are a mix of late sixties early seventies stuff, mostly from let it bleed, beggars banquet and some girls (they always do miss you and beast of burden) tickets would be around 70 notes and it'd probably be a day long event, so two or three groups would be on also...

Oh right, fair enough. I just thought it was new because I knew the stones had a new album out and this was getting fairly regular airplay on the Kerrrang! channel a couple of weeks ago. Just goes to show how far off the radar they are for me personally (and I suspect others too). They could re-release almost anything from the 80s/90s and I wouldn't notice.

i could be wrong roadhousemag, but didnt they skip over the dancetastic "miss you" in the point last time? chrst i just remembered andrea corr made a t1t od herself trying to sing "wild horsess" at that, fukkin hell that ruined the night actually, she looked so uncomfortable. a few of us on the night reckoned she just learned it off that day after some idiot pr w3nkstain thought it would be a great publicity thing. anti pr ravings aside though, this phoenix park thing should be a great day out though. i think its great that you get to see someone that old having that good a time. (ageing scares me a bit!)
