I stayed up until 2am on sunday morning to watch this, here damn show on BBC. First off, Lee Ann Womack looked less than a Nashville Diva gripping her dodgy looking award than a pornstar on the slide advertising a range of glass d*ld*s. And that was after performing her soon to be classic bad country song, 'twenty years and two husbands ago'. Alan Jackson's hats are now wedged so far down on his head that all you could see was his moustache as he did a cover of Clapton's 'Wonderful Tonight'. Brooks and Dunn looked like 'Willie O'Dea and Tony Quinn Live at the Red Cow Inn'. Kenny Chesney looked relieved to be single again after being freed of his flat, widescreen tv (or wife - as they are known in Ireland). Glen Campbell did a very good imitation of a villain in a James Bond movie. Kris Kristofferson looked like he had had one too many backstage and Sunday morning was about to come down. Garth Brooks is back on the road, after performing “Good Ride Cowboy,” a tribute to his late friend Chris LeDoux with LeDoux’s band Western Underground, live from a packed Times Square. Faith Hill, Miranda Lambert and Sara Evans all looked sexy as hell. Cowboy Troy and Wynonna looked like they had eaten the entire hospitality buffet. And Keith Urban, well, the f*cker had those blonde/dark highlights in his hair that Dublin party girls were so found of this summer, Jesus wept, if this is the best entertainer Nashville can produce then...aw hell, it was still fun, like The Oscars for Rednecks. Yee Haw!

The video for “Whiskey Lullaby” features a character drinking by a grave, a typical way to spend a sunday afternoon in Nashville.
Thirdly, it was broadcast from New York City for Christs sake ! Which meant appearances by such hip, young, cutting edge artists as Paul Simon, Billy Joel and Jon Bon Jovi. Oh, and Sir Elton John.
Finally, the best line of the night went to Vince Gill who said, 'They told me that every tv show made in New York must feature a character called Vinny'
