Sorry Folks, I previously wrote what may of been considered 'an accusation' against IMRO, I have re-written it and it is not intended to accuse or slander, it is simply something I have witnessed with my own eyes; My dad runs a small business, based in our back garden in a shed. Recently, IMRO sent him a bill claiming he owes them for royalties. The reasoning for this would be that a registered business is a public place and if he has a radio playing music, then they are entitled to collect royalties. However, this appears to be a serious mistake on their behalf, he has no radio on the premises! The bill states his 'account' needs to be cleared, however, he never set up an account with them. It also has a breakdown of the charges which I can not understand how these are calculated. I previously suggested IMRO must trawl through the golden pages to come up with numbers and am not accusing them of doing so but my point would be that it seems very random that my dad's business was sent this bill as they have nothing to go on other than assumption that he is playing music in a public place. I can't even see it as just being a mistake because they would have no reason to have his details in their database, they had to of been obtained from somewhere. From my dad's point of view, it does feel imtimidating to receive such bills. They have now sent him 5 in total, the majority of them being to clear his outstanding balance on his, so called 'account'. Just wondering does anyone have any knowledge of IMRO's policy in terms of collecting royalties with company's not registered with them or has anyone heard anything similar?
