It feels very worthwhile when you search for so many albums that don't seem to be stocked, and you accidently stumble across a 'gem' of an album that is reduced. Anyone else find one recently? My find was LOW 'The Great Destroyer'

Low are amazing. That gig in the Village this year was pretty darn memerable. Recent reduced gem for me was 'Rejoicing In the Hands...' Devendra Banhart. Looking forward to purchasing the Sun Kil Moon album of Modest Mouse covers too.

Ah yes, nothing like finding pure gold in the bargain bin. Recently I discovered a rather nice litle album by Barbara Morgenstern called "Nichts Muss", its mainly in german, but makes very pleasant listening. If you like stuff like the Notwist or Lali Puna, it's worth a listen, Wouldn't quite put it in the same league as those two bands but still good stuff. One cheap release that is readily available (for now) is the DFA holiday mix. A compilation of 9 tracks, some completely new, some remixes from the DFA label. It's well worth the small asking price, I paid less than 5 euro. It comes in a carboard sleeve but I'm not complaining! Of course now that I'm living in the sticks, regularly browsing for CDs in record shops is not something I can do much these days, so I've had to turn to the interweb and was delighted to be able to find that Spun.com has a copy of the latest Solex album "The Laughing Stock of Indie Rock" in stock and at a reasonable price. You wouldn't believe how hard its been to try and find this. Amazon and play.com were out of stock, I even tried ordering it directly from the record label (Arena rock) but they had problems processing my credit card. Just waiting for it to be delivered now... can't wait.
