New pitchfork darlings, anyone heard them? There are some MP3's available at http://www.clapyourhandssayyeah.com, "In This Home On Ice" is one of my favourite songs of the year, the other 2 I'm not so gone on but the album is hopefully winging it's way over the Atlantic to me as I type.
Hoping to check them out at the CMJ music marathon in New York in September.

Don't have it long, but it's sounding good. Think it's gonna be a grower. The incoherent vocalist was a little annoying at first.
Got it at the same time as Architechture in Helsinki, which is excellent and has hardly left my cd player, so it hasn't had too many listens yet.

Yeah, they're pretty good. Upon This Tidal Wave of Young Blood is a great track. They're everywhere in NYC, burnout maybe?

It's promoted by Pod Promotions and seeing as they own Crawdaddy the maths might (hopefully) work out that it'd be more profitable to keep it where it is.

But didn't they promote the recent Public Enemy gig that took place in The Village? I'd be surprised if the CYHSY and BSS gigs didn't get moved to bigger venues.

Yeah, my inkling is that CYHSY will be moved to the Village although i'd much prefer to see them in Crawdaddy (On the ball with that too, tickets arrived on Monday!)The album is getting an official UK/Ireland/Europe release on Wichita on the 23rd of January so, all in all, there's a good chance it'll be moved over especially if tickets are sold out and they only went on sale last week. I hope Unicron is right and that the maths result in it staying where it's scheduled for. I can't say this often enough, The Village is a crap venue.

Album is available in Tower although you have to ask behind the counter as it's not on display.
It's my number 1 for 2005, incidentally.

It is? I'd describe it was having a couple of great songs but somewhat patchy.

When it was first released i read the reviews, surfed the hype and not having heard any songs kind of shrugged the whole thing off. Another new band, another bunch of hyperbole. Picked it up while in NYC during the summer for $9, brought it home and didn't play it for a couple of weeks. I have to say, when i did, it blew me away. The two standout tunes were "Let the Cool Goddess Rust Away" and "The Skin of my Yellow Country Teeth" which were on constant rotation. I wouldn't say there's any filler on it at all. Every tune is great. Top drawer stuff. Chunky and fully rounded mix of instruments, interesting lyrics and a blast from start to finish. Yes, indubitably the best album of year, in my opinion.

As far as I'm aware, the gig has defo been moved to The Village. Expect some more tickets to filter through soon enough fo anyone who hasn't got a ticket.

I think it's a pretty souless, characterless place if you're not right up at the front. I always seem to end up in the vicinity of those two pillars that obscure the view too! It's not very well laid out either. If you want to go for a slash you have to wade through throngs of people who look at you as if you're going to barge in on their select space up at the front. That said i've given them plenty of cash in the last year. They get some great acts to perform.
Give me Whelan's, Vicar St., Crawdaddy or The Olympia any day of the week.
Village Schmillage!

Hey there, I would really love to go to this gig. Has anybody got a spare ticket or 2 for this one? can't believe they sold out so quickly!
Would be deeply indebted if I could get a tic.
Merry Xmas everyone!
