never split up, they were involved in different projects over the last few years though that was always the case. Tom was making a film or something as well. I saw him play in a solo gig here about 3 or 4 years ago and he said a new deus album would be out in a year!

Yeah, dEUS what a band! 'Instant Street' is a thing of rare, exquisite beauty. One of the great, great songs of the nineties. (RIP Uaneen) And 'Little Arithmetics'from aeons ago!!!! Love 'em! I too was under the impression that they had called it a day. Hope the new stuff is good. They've a lot to live up to!

Whats so strange about that? Front 242 and Soulwax were from Belgium too. I suppose what suprising is in a country with so little to do, why there aren't more bands..

I Know, shouldn't be slagging poor ol' Belgium, no offence to the Belgians and all that seeing that us Irish are quite sensitive if anyone even thinks that we might be less than great....Forgot about Front 242, bought their 'Animal' single some years back though some might be unsettled by their slightly Fascistic image. What else has come out of Belgium? Chocolates, Engelbert Humperd**k, a former Man Utd footballer whose name escapes me and of course sprouts from Brussells....

Don't forget the Glimmers, the Eskimo label, the Culture Club in Ghent and the infamous 10 days off festival.

Now that's what I call obscure!!!! Not Really. The Glimmers recently compiled a mix CD for the DJ Kicks series and they're booked to play with Mylo, Underworld and Basement Jaxx in Marlay Park this summer. 2 Many DJs were residents in the Culture Club for years. The compilations released on the Eskimo label have recieved rave reviews in mainstream music magazines such as Q and Mojo. And anyone with even the most basic knowledge of contemporary dance music should recognise a good portion of the acts playing at the 10 Days Off Festival; http://www.10daysoff.be/2005/flashcontent/uk/indexf.html Just because you're not familiar with any of these doesn't mean that they're obscure. Maybe it's just not a a scene that you're in to.

Fair point, Stroller. Never been a huge fan of dance music, more into electronica/'indietronica'/ambient s**t like Eno, Aphex, Kraftwerk, Ulrich Schnauss, Lali puna etc rather than more mainstream 'dance' fare though I do think Underworld's 'dubnobass....' and 'dig yr own hole' are masterpieces but in general, 'dance' (it's a slippery, hard to define genre) never really, to quote the great Channel 4 news reporter in the field, Brian Fantana, 'revved my engine'ergo my general ignorance. Do like Layo and Bushwacka's 'Love story', all told...all right work over time to go home!

I can't remember any belgians playing for united. anyone out there have the rothmans football yearbook to hand? does anyone else feel that the frames are very heavily influenced by dEUS? from 'dance the devil' on, they definitely sound as if they spent a lot of time listening to 'worst case scenario'(no bad thing, as it's a deadly record) a friend of mine sent me two downloaded CDs of tom barman solo stuff from a couple of years ago, really great - I don't have song titles or even the name of the band - anyone else know any details? but if the new dEUS album is as good as that it'll be well worth the wait.
