Damien Rice is set to try his hand at staging a music festival in Ireland this summer Damien Rice has revealed that he’s planning to run his own festival in Ireland this summer. “I haven’t had time to do anything about it before, but having been chilling out for the last while I’ve made some calls, hooked up with some people and found a place,” he reveals. “It’d be so great to have something to go to in Ireland where you can watch music, but have amazing food and where there’ll be fires lighting all night and music going all night long as opposed to stopping at eleven. The kind of thing I’m looking to do is the Green Fields Of Glastonbury, that sort of feeling.” bloody hippy

Oh my god I can imagine the line up... Paddy casey. David Kitt, Declan O Rourke, The Frames... the usual incestuous s**te.

you forgot Mark Geary, Gary Dunne and Mundy. I am interested, none the less, to see what Rice's new album is like, considering O had three really nice songs on it. I haven't heard any of the new stuff. Maybe it will be previewed at RiceFest05.

I'm still curious as to what way the festival will be set up. Maybe with Rice doing so well in America he has made some musician friends or contacts. I know that he did some stuff recently with Ani DiFranco but we'll have to wait and see.

Give it a chance, maybe he'll reveal a secret love of Blackstrobe, Bergheim 34 and Ellen Allien and put them on the bill. Then again, maybe not..

knock it as much as you like but at least give the chap a chance, ireland could definitely do with the green fields experience over here, everything we have is absolutely bloody s**te in comparison. Take oxegen for example; expensive, s**t facilities, crap food, over-zealous security and absolutely no vibe at all. i say bring it on or at least give it a chance

I'm up for any decent festival as long as the price is affordable and the line-up is intriguing. If anyone gets any info on it, post up here. Otherwise roll on Oxegen, Electric Picnic and Hard Working Class Heroes!!!!

the frames supported him on his last tour of the states. i think the first i heard of this festival thingy was at least a year ago, and given the amount of time it seems to take him to get things done i wouldn't hold my breath....
