Just wondering what everyone thought was THE gig of Bud Rising. Myself... well British Sea Power on Tues were great but technical problems mean that they were a little more subdued than they usually are (anyone who saw them in Whelans in 2002 or Cork the night before will understand). I would have to say that Editors who supported The Departure were the best I caught. Absolutley flawless. Cant wait to see them in a few weeks time at Oxegen.

Only 2 gigs for me, Beck and Weezer. Both cool but definitely the stand-out moment for me was the "dinner table" part of Beck's show (see Beck-related topic from yesterday.). And also the bizarre moment when Rivers Cuomo said he felt they should play something that sounds a bit Irish in honour of being here, before launching in to My Name Is Jonas! Odd. What are Editors like? Am I wrong to have an Interpol-ly image in my head when I hear their name?

Freakishly right!!!! Well if your were only goin on how the name sounded ;-) Not as... gloomy I guess as Interpol and there are quiet a few uplifting melancholic qualities to their music (how much of a s**t talker am I). At times the vocals are very similar to Paul Banks but not enough to seem like they are just a parody band. Two singles so far Bullets and Munich, the latter being nothing short of infectious. Their new album is out sometime this month. Defo recommend chekcin them out.

I do get what you mean! ;) I'm all aboout the uplifting melancholy, me. As for the name "Editors", well it just suggests structure and straight lines and the lack of a "The" at the beginning says a lot. Maybe cos I am an editor myself. Now who's the s**t talker! On a side note, the Departure singer's face is tres punchable.

Aw play nice now... he was a little smarmy maybe, but as much as I want to hate that really overly English twang to every word he sings, I've been in love with it since I heard them at Oxegen '04! I hate when that happens. Nice work on the Editors/Interpol deductive reasoning btw :-P You must always watch the crystal maze.

only got to 3 of the gigs meself. Stephen Fretwell, The La's & Jimmy Cliff. Stephen Fretwell was easily the best for me, followed by Jimmy CLiff and then The La's.

It's just that I edited a part of the Last Broadcast show that they were in, backstage at Oxegen 04 funny enough, and he came across real poncey. Not to take away from his band's quality of course. No disrespect intended! Crystal Maze remark: admiration or derision? Discuss... ;)

Yea I guess he was a little bit but he was happy to pretty much talk t whoever before the gig. Altho my mate did tell him his scarf was nice and he was all 'Oh I dont think it goes with my outfit...' She was like... 'Eh....okay..' Maybe the pretty boyness just adds to the punchableness of his being. Oh and Crystal Maze can only EVER be a good thing Mr. Schwarzkopf.

Weezer was the highlight of the Festival for me....I should've went to see Magic Numbers or Editors. But there's still U2, Oxegen, Hard Working Class Heroes, Electric Picnic and host of other gigs to attend before the summer is out.

Yeah, summer for me = glastonbury, pixies, picnic plus plenty of other smaller things. Might head to Smog on Saturday. Weezer were dead good but the new ones really paled played next to the classics. Thought the sound was excellent.

BSP were great, Editors were fantastic, but for me THE GIG was Every Move A Picture. Brilliant summer for music ahead and i thought the bud rising was a great start to it!
