In a word; "meh". While there were indeed some excellent moments, the new stuff proved itself as cack and there were some very messy renditions in there too. Jonas, In the Garage, Say it ain't so, Undone, Tired of Sex, Good Life - all fantastic. Even Hash Pipe and Island in the Sun sounded pretty good. The new songs were drab, at best. Even worse than any of the new crap, I thought, was the woefully sloppy version of Getchoo they half-heartedly made their way through. Disappointing to say the least. No Only in Dreams either, or lighty uppy =w=, or exploding confetti.

Nah I'd disagree with you. I thought the majority of their set was great (only about three songs were poor) with 'Beverly Hills' and 'We Are All On Drugs' sounding excellent from the new album. A class gig overall.

Wow. I guess we just like the exact opposite parts of Weezer. What I loved about them was the breakdowns and crescendos, intelligent witty lyrics and raw intensity that was found in abundance on blue and pinkerton. Their new direction, well not that new, since Green really, into mindless pop-by-numbers has never sat comfortably with me. I think maladroit and the new album are appallingly bad.

I love the same things about the blue album but some of the tracks on 'Make Believe' are decent and I like 'We Are All On Drugs' because it is light-hearted and a little cheesy. People's expectations seemed to be too high for the new album, considering they were away for so long. But it isn't that bad of an album.

    I think it's unimaginative, lazy and dull. 1. verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-combo-outro. 2. verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-combo-outro. 3. verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-combo-outro. 4. verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-combo-outro. 5. verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-combo-outro. 6. verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-combo-outro. 7. verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-combo-outro. 8. verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-combo-outro. 9. verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-combo-outro. 10. verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-combo-outro. 11. verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-combo-outro. And all with lyrics stacked full of hackneyed cliches.

verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-combo-outro is what pop music is and always will be. weezer are a pop band so they have to work within that formula, therefore in my opinion they're not being unimaginative or lazy

The Beach Boys were one of my favourite pop bands. The vast majority of their better material does not come close to fitting that description.

i have yeah, dont get me wrong im a huge weezer fan and not having a go at you, but feel people saying they are dull and lazy isnt fair. Rivers is a huge historian of music almost and tries to write songs to fit within a certain formula, so you could argue trying by to write within a formula and making it sound fresh is a challenge in itself. Now if you feel he fails at that, well then fair enough i suppose.
