It was gonna happen anyway so Bud rising coming along means what exactly? More money for the promoter? Bud get to stick their name on the poster and probably a few 100 free tickets to give to publicans. MCD the promoters get the Bud money. And the punters end up with a few plastic glasses of warm Bud.

I bought it with my hard earned cash and ended up selling it in Freebird last weekend because apart from the singles it just didn't do anything for me.

Anyone see 'Naked Camera' (hit&miss hidden camera show on Net2) this week ? Guy was in Freebird winding up the guy behind the counter, asking him to copy the cd for him, or if he can bring it home to tape & bring it back. He then asked him if he could buy & sell it back if he doesnt like it. the Guy behind the desk answered No You Cant ... I was saying Yes to the tv. Yes, I talked at the tv. Help me.

Naked Camera is hilarious. That guy in Freebird is a bit intense, saying he rather drown himself in the Liffey and bring all his stock with him too, rather then let yer man take a loan of a CD so that he could copy one song off it. Chill out Dude!!!

The funniest though when the other comedian came in and yer man rabbited on again about throwing his stuff in the Liffey - it was such a random response given so emphatically to 2 different people. We're not a library.... Few weeks back the guy in the red jumper tried to return his headphones because he was listening with the left headphone in the right ear and the headphones were unhappy. The guy in the shop was incredibly patient with him.

That sounds great. Was that the guy with the goatee who has been working in freebird for years? I use to go there every week but find city discs much better since they opened and its owned by ex-freebird staff. Has anyone checked out the www.eyebrowy.com movies based on whelans and the irise music scene. They are hilarious.

I can remember shopping in Freebird years ago when that guy with the Paul Wellar hair cut was working there. He was in his late 20's/early 30's, always wore a shirt and had a couple of random moles spread around his face. I went up with my five records to listen to but he only handed me four. When I reminded him that he'd forgotten to give me the Outkast record he just stared at me and replied that "It's just going to sound the same on that turntable as it does on MTV". That fellah with the dreads wasn't much better. One time I went up to the counter with five records, listened to them all, and bought four of them. I then went back, picked out another five records and brought them up to the counter and then engaged in this lovely little conversation with him; "Can I have a listen to these please?" "There's a 5 record limit" "But there's only 5 records there" "But you listened to 5 records already" "But I bought all of them bar one and I'd like to listen to some more" "Go on. I'll let you away with it this time but don't try it again" Bear in mind that I was the only customer in the shop at the time. They're an awful shower of c*nts. I'd much rather give my business to a shop with appreciative staff like Road or All City or City Discs or Big Brother.

ah, u gotta love those guys who work in record stores...... city discs is good but theres a girl in there who obviously thinks she knows it all but really doesnt have a clue when it comes to new stuff. the young fellow with the long hair is really good though - very friendly and knowledgable freebird has been s**t for years. the guy in the dreads is also a DJ (Goldie, I think is his name - yeah i know) and he's not very good at that either road is alright but i find that they usually dont have as good or comprehensive a range of stuff as city discs theres a great record shop in galway for soul and funk and jazz stuff - Mulligans. well, there was - dunno if it still open. always got good stuff there. best stuff is online though - boomkat and other music for electronic stuff, dustygrooves for funk and jazz, piccadily in manchester for indie and play.com for everything else

I'm a Road person too. They have what I want, so no complaints from me. I hate that craic, judging what you buy, Fcuk off & just gimme the change. Seems to be only in music shops that this applies.

Mulligans is still going. They carry a good range of records but they don't have the most friendly staff in the world, they don't have any listening decks and you'll never get anything cheap in there. I buy most of my records off Piccadilly. I've used Boomkat once and I have to say they were great value. Juno and HTFR can be quite comprehensive but very pricy. CD Wow and Play are great value and there's quite a few German sites which are great for picking up cheap hip hop. Fat City's good aswell. And you can't beat Netsounds, Music Stack, Gemm, Amazon and Ebay for picking up bargains.

'Weller' guy is a part owner of city discs now. I met him at an elliott smith gig years ago and chatted away to him for a while as i was a bit drunk. Next time I went into the shop he didn't even make eye contact. Not impressed.

The guys in Road are the bizzo. They have also kindly carried our tickets for previously Cluas gigs (all for charidee, don't you know). Fair play. City Discs is the best of the rest but I really don't like the "I'm so cool" attitude of the staff. Freebird what good about ten years ago. That said, if you are looking for Somply Red, Boyzone and Phil COllins second hand, tis the place to go. For me, ebay has made these places all but redundant, other than for the occasional browse.
