I've been looking at a few international festivals and I think some are well worth the travel & cash just for the acts on offer. Oxegen has yet to sign up any real killer acts, some good ones so far, but have a look at three of the others abroad.... America: Bannaroo - http://www.bonnaroo.com/2005/ Spain: Primavera - http://www.primaverasound.com/index.php?lan=3&sec=0 England: V Festival - http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/lineups.php?FestID=824

I can only assume that most of these festivals would be for a fraction of the cost of Oxygen also....

fieldsofrock.nl is my musical foreign destination this summer, prob not most peoples taste though, but in terms of heavy acts, a good one.

Glasto is always stellar no matter who plays, but just for line-up Coachella is orgasmic. NIN, New Order, Bright Eyes, Arcade Fire, Weezer, m83, Bloc Party.......... http://www.coachella.com/artists/ This side of the Atlantic, Roskilde is looking pretty damn good this year. Black Sabbath, Brian Wilson, Interpol, Duran Duran.... http://www.roskilde-festival.dk/object.php?obj=539000c&code=1

There's one that happens in Belgium as well. Can't think of the name of it, but I remember one of my mates headed over to it and saw pretty much the same line up as Witness that year plus the chilli's. (Tickets, camping & Ryanair flights all for the same cost as Oxegen)

Only problem with Coachella is the often extreme heat in the area. It's basically in the middle of nowhere. (it's close to Palm Springs, but Palm Springs is in the middle of the SoCal desert). Lineup is pretty cool though. I'm thinking of going to this one in May. http://www.hob.com/tickets/festivals/sasquatch/2005/

Bennecasim is meant to be brilliant, my mate was there last year. Sonar in Barcelona is killer as well. What about Download in the UK? or Rock Am Ring?

Sassquatch in Washington has an amazing line-up. Wilco, the pixies, the arcade fire, modest mouse, the frames, johanna newsom, and smoosh to name a few.

burning man is supposed to be amazing, thats higher than glasto on my list of things to do, but its not really a music festival as such? though no doubt there are plenty of bands about, apparently its a legitimate "life changing experience" so sign me up before starbucks start supporting it!
