would the capacity of the village be higher than whelans? was going to come up for this gig but twas sold out - anyone know if there's any chance of extra tix for the new date?

I'd say your best bet is to ring Road Recs (01-6717340) and ask them to hold off a ticket for ya if they come back in. The Village would probably hold a few more people but think Whelan's would suit LaMontagne better. Nevertheless, its cancelled and have to wait till May now.

In the current issue of Word Magazine (with Clapton on the cover) it says as part of an advertisement for Ray LaMontagne - ' March 12th: Whelan's, Dublin. Extra date by popular demand'. Maybe he'll be playing two dates in The Village in May, or maybe its just a mis-print.

I saw Ray laMontagne in London last week.... a very lacklustre show. The album is pretty good (if a little samey) but the gig was limp - I left half way through. I wonder if he had been feeling unwell then as well.
It seems to me that this artist is a great voice waiting for some decent songs. And he plays the Van Morrison card too often for my liking.
Anyway...
