This would be really good. The best acts that I saw last year where on the New Band Stage, although alot of them weren't from Ireland...some were.

2 chances if and only if CPU pay MCD a shed load of money will there be a CPU stage at Oxegen there will probably be a Phantom stage at Oxegen which will take care of the new bands - Phantom is supposed to be launching on July 01st so that would make a lot of marketing and promotional sense. Plus MCD's Denis Desmond is one of the Phantom big cheeses. He also has nothing to make out of CPU (that we know of) so I think this, like so many "rumours" which start on bulletin boards, is just some well pitched hype. Beware what u read on bulletin boards, my friends! I mean, for all u lot know, i could be (a) a member of Bell X1, (b) a member of The Frames (c) a member of J*v* or (d) an old tosser with too much time on his hands

While there are a few impressive acts to hear on CPU, i think a stage endorsed by Phantom would garner far more interest. I'd trust the Phantom crew and listeners to see to it that worthy Irish artists get the call up. Though I couldn't see it being kept exclusively for unsigned/rising Irish artists - nice gesture but the organisers are in it for the money and want the bigger Irish names

If there is any truth in the rumour it would be a fine thing, if not it's a nice rumour all the same! I first came across it on the oxegen and posted it on the cpu site so I don't think it's coming from cpu themselves, perhaps MCD just testign the water!

While there are some very deserving acts on CPU, Soviet Filter, Ch-1, Hoovers and Sledgehammers, Delentoros, Obsolete etc. I'm not sure if there is enough quality to warent and entire stage dedicated to CPU. Hopefully the above acts will get a slot somewhere though.......

Yeah, same as last year...just mix them up with unsigned acts from around the world (which is mainly comprised up of British bands about to make it big e.g. last year had Killers, Razorlight, Hope Of States). Putting CPU, Phantom or whatever on a stage doesn't make much of a difference. As long as unsigned acts get a decent platform to perform.

I think it would be an absolutley brilliant idea personally, phantom is mainly promoting the boring crap that gets passed for today fm music damien rice, turn, frames etc....cpu is really really giving a chance to people with no contacts and no exposure.. if it got set up then it would be a real help to many of these acts who are just starting up!!!

brilliant idea or not, it will only happen if (a) CPU pay MCD loads of dough or (b) MCD takes over CPU. Sorry to be so pragmatic about it but that's the way this thing goes

i dunno, the reason why i was so exited about this was that i was talking to someone, who indicated that the whole thing has not been so underhand in the past, and need not be this time round either....so without either of pilchards two scenarios arising the stage could happen, i just want to know why people specifically cited cpu on the oxegen website

This entire thread was started by someone acting on false pretences with some extra deception by another member who added subsequent postings to the thread. This I have been able to prove by a bit of detective work using the IP numbers of members that I have access to as well as some other info. I am reflecting further on how to deal with this particular case of abuse and the parties involved in this abuse. In the meantime I add this message to ensure others realise all is not as it seems with this thread. eoghan

That's not what I meant Eoin... What I meant was that the people who are having the discussions on Oxegen are also users of CPU... Nothing to do with CPU moderators etc etc... I don't think it's a set up... I think it's a rumour (or suggestion) that has snowballed by very virtue of the fact that it's being discussed on different forums Personally, I think a CPU stage would be a brilliant occurance. (but it is only a rumour is it not ?)

Excellent work. The only thing that is certain about the festival is that there will be a main stage!

CPU Records would like to state that we have not posted anything on this thread or the oxygen thread and is in no way responsible for any of the views expressed or the alledged deception on this thread, which we are very interested in seeing the outcome of and how this whole rumour got started. Eoghan can you please confirm this so your users are aware that CPU Records has nothing to do with this. However we would be lieing if we said we weren't happy with the free publicity.

I confirm that, on the basis of the information I have at hand, it appears nobody involved in RUNNING the CPU website was involved in the posting that started this thread, nor in any of the subsequent replies to the thread (except of course the one posted above by member 'cpu'). However I have what I consider pretty compelling evidence that at least one act featured on the www.CPU.ie website (and therefore an act who could theoretically benefit by getting a slot on a CPU stage at Oxegene, if it ever happened) are involved in starting up this particular thread and 'pumping' it up via subsequent replies. More later. eoghan

ok sorry bout that i will admit to using another name on this thread, i would like to say that no-one from cpu had anything to do with it and i would hope that everyone understands that fully. i honestly didnt know that there would be such an uproar over it, i respect the wishes of the site and will not do it again....cheers.
