Rice Cakes has been at it again.
This time, he is rumoured to be dating Renee Zellweger.
"Renee and Damien have been seeing each other for a while and they`re both really happy," an insider has revealed. "They share a mutual love of music and both are very deep thinkers. Renée is pretty intense and Damien is something of a poet so they`re the perfect match."
Well, in my opinion, only one of them loves music. Guess who ?
As for poetry, can someone please tell me what, 'Stones taught me to fly', actually means. Although I know where I'd like to see a few flying stones aimed.

stones taught me to fly:
i would presume, looking at it from a literary sense, what he could be getting at, is that from looking at things that will always be stuck in one position that he doesn't have to be.

Far be it from me to swim against the considerable current but isn't that what music is about? You hear a lyric and put your own meaning to it. If you wanted to understand that sentence you would find a meaning for it. This isn't me saying Damien Rice is a fantastic poet, it's more a general observation.I just can't understand how so many cluas members, alot of them being musicians themselves, can be so dismissive of another musicians choice of lyrics

I can. Its the Punk Aesthetic and, for me, it started when Johnny Rotten started having a go at prog rockers. So, if anybody wants to go ahead and defend the lyrics of acts with equally daft lyrics, such as YES, be my guest.
And while we are at it, can anybody tell me what the phrase, 'close knit harmonies' is ? Is it just another way of saying that an act can't write a melody to save their lives ?

close knit harmonies i would imagine refer to vocal polyphony where the intervals between the lines are, for the most part, small. it's possible to have a good melody with close knit harmony, doncha know.

I always presumed he was referring to the rolling stones being his first musical love. But that's just me!

Actually that makes some kind of sense.
Would that be, "(The) Stones Taught Me to Fly" ?
'Fly' being a metaphor for recreational chemicals
(NB: This in no way suggests that anyone is in anyway doing anything that would in be considered under any circumstances incorrect or illegal)
And before anyone gets shirty with me, I must disclose that I am a big fan of the song 'Dance Halls Days' which contains some of the silliest lyrics ever recorded.
