Reviews
Thanks to slashtobe: Second time for me to see the mighty VR, once in
Paris, once in Dublin now and I'm going in London next week! The gig was
sweet as a nut, all the band playing up to the Irish in the crowd. They
played Mr. Brownstone this time (didn't see it in Paris) and started it out
with the drums from 'You could be mine' which was amazing but asides from
all the quality performances from the album a quality touch was Slash
sparking up a fag and commenting on the anti smoking ban! Rock and f**kin'
roll!! The sound was a bit off I thought, couldn't hear the solo's that
well when accompanied by the heavy guitar riffs but for the softer songs it
was all good. The back and forth solo\'s were great, didn't realise how
good Dave was until last night and Slash's talk box is still a tasty little
touch to his skills... All in all I would definately go see them again. Oh
wait... I Am!!!! Rock on motherf**kers! See you in London!
Thanks to Pat F: Absolutely F**king AWESOME!! From the moment they arrived
on stage to the time they left, the energy in the building was incredible.
As a frontman, Scott has few rivals. Slash's guitar playing was amazing.
Matt Sorum, what an excellent drummer. Duff, superb. Dave, brilliant. What
can I say, other than the Oxegen festival is on in July in Ireland.
Wouldn't it be great if VR returned for that?
Thanks to Gareth: Had been to Glasgow and London previously and this show
blew both those away. Show was sold out and the crowd was wild. The band
seemed to really enjoy it, Duff held up the Irish flag on the drum riser in
middle of the show. Duff also said hello to his relations in Cork, to which
Slash said "you have so many relatives". The lads smoked through the set,
even though there is a smoking ban in Ireland, Think Slash made a comment
on it, but very hard to make him out. The stand out tune was You Got No
Right, brilliant...Glad there was no Aerosmith cover, went down like lead
ballon in London 3 day previously.
If I was in Axls shoes I would be working out how to beat this, the band is
tight, songs are good, show is excellent...and hardest of all ..the lead
singer looks part of band, doesnt leave during solos or act like an ass
Thanks to Gerry: Well I have to say the show was amazing, the sound wasn't
always great but the performance was amazing. The crowd sang their hearts
out along with all the songs and rocked their socks off. The band
diregarded the smoking ban and Slash made some comments on it but I
couldn't hear him clearly. Matt played the intro to You Could Be Mine on
one of the songs, can't remember which one now though. Overall it was an
amazing gig, Scott draped himself in an Irish tri-colour and Duff mentioned
his Irish background. It was a proper rock n f**king roll gig!
Thanks to Rob: f**kin brilliant, Used To Love Her was a treat, 5 rock gods
playing on the same stage! Velvet Revolver are the f**kin no. 1 band in the
world! Rock on slash!!!!!!!
Thanks to natasha: Just back from what I can honestly say was one of the
best gig's I have ever been too - they were excellent ! Just the right mix
of Guns, Stone Temple's & Velvet, just excellent !
Thanks to Jimmy Cleary: WOW!!
I must say that was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it! They kicked off
the show as usual with Sucker Train Blues and then played Do it for the
Kids, they then proceeded to play pretty much all of Contraband. They also
played Sex Type Thing by STP and It's So Easy, Used to Love Her and Mr.
Brownstone by GNR. Mr. Brownstone in particular was done excellently, close
your eye's and it was GNR back in 1987.
While Scott, Duff, Matt and Dave played brilliantly there was one big
reason why we were here, Slash. He played amazingly. My friend got a piece
of his towel that he threw out at the end, needless to say, he was very
pleased with himself! Before the concert we wondered whether Slash would
have a cigarette in his mouth, due to the smoking ban here it isn't exactly
legal, but he did all the same, he even made a joke of how polite and
easy-going people were about him breaking the law!
If I had fault the show I'd say that the sound wasn't perfect and the drums
drowned out the vocals, but considering that the sound was brilliant on the
more accoustic songs(Loving the Alien, Used to Love Her) you can forgive
that.
