What does everyone think of this act headlining the Sunday night of the next festival? I was a little surprised but at least it's not The Darkness. Rumour has it that Dave Grohl is meant to be an excellent front man. Anyway, limited amount of tickets on sale this Friday. I'll be digging deep to get mine just in case they sell out quickly. Two day camping just like last year.

Foo Fighters will be a good headliner for the Sunday night, they put on a wicked show and beats the headliners for the last couple of years, last time I was at Poxegen or whatever is was called David Gray was headliner, the most mundane slit your wrists kinda headliner I had ever seen, Darknness last year?? Headliners?? don't think so..... Generally I think Poxegen is a sham and I have avoided it for the last two years, even though there were some brilliant acts, in fairness I think I have had my time with the "major" summer Irish festival. What i say is....travel abroad and see how a festival should be put together, and it's probably more fun anyway, plus maybe better weather....

Well, yeah im a big fan of the Foos, but id question their headline status in terms of oxegen. They played at witnnes 3 years ago and it was only on a medium stage, so should we feel cheated that they are now at the main stage with nothing really released in the mean time ( am i right in that ). I dont doubt they will play a good set, but im just thinking in terms of value for money.

Klootfan, in terms of headline spot, Oxegen is a sister festival to T in the Park (i think?) so whoever headlines one, normally headlines the other..... As far as Foos and material goes, I think there's somethign due out before the Festival so there would be new stuff. Still much better than the Darkness though...

Why can no-one enjoy concerts without being out of their head? As a non-drinker drunk people ruin everything. We must be a very insecure nation.

Who would people like to see at Oxegen this year? I would vote to bring back Republic Of Loose, Razorlight, The Zutons, Acidtone, The Urges, Michael Franti, Hope Of The States, Franz Ferdinand, The Rapture, Wilco, Simple Kid, The Shins, Hal, Belle & Sebastian from last year. Then get The Coral in there along with Supergrass, Jesse Malin, Detroit Cobras, The Dears, Fried, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Stand, Incubus, The Bees. I'd also like to see alot of unsigned Irish bands get some slots this year. It proved to be a success last year with Republic Of Loose turning out to be one of the acts of the weekend.

Gar, I tend to disagree with having a whole load of bands that were on the previous year. There are bands in the list you mentioned I would like to see in their own right again, but at Oxegen?? No. Maybe I'm being biased in that I don't really like the festival, but for someone going to this, and it may be the only festival they go to, why have the same bands on, in my eyes Oxegen needs bands that haven't played in the last year or two. Having said that some of the bands like Simple Kid and Republic of Loose should play, maybe higher up to more of a crowd, but bands like Belle and Sebastian should come over and play in their own right and give the smaller or lesser known bands a chance to play higher up the bill. In answer to your quesiton: Get Calexico, Electric Six (they may have played last year though), My Morning Jacket, Manitoba!!!

they were on the main stage at 9 o clock on the saturday in 2002. i think i'll be oxegen bound this year, t in the park was brilliant but too much expense getting there and all, just handier staying here.

Indeed we are. For alot of people it is the only bit of comfort after a week sloggin in a job thats endless and pointless. When I sasy out of my head, I am never completely annoying like the people I know you are referring to are. Thats just acting silly.
