hello when you are out and about town you may notice some strange looking ashtray yolks loitering around the bars of this city. they are called moochers. there is 18 of them in all. below is a blurb about them.photos will be attached soon. feedback is welcomed. Eek are aaron copeland (our bass player) and me (derrick ellison9) . Eek presents... MOOCHER Eek was established with the intention of bringing together a number of promising artists to provide them with a common platform on which to create and exhibit new work.We hope to bring these new works to the general public's attention in a number of new and innovative ways. Eek’s first undertaking involves the re-vamping by 20 commisioned artists of 18 disused gas cylinders (donated by flogas), transforming them into modern, alternative ashtrays (or ‘’Moochers’’) to be exhibited outside Dublin pubs and in the many new designated smoking areas that have recently appeared in and around the city's public houses. The aim is that these receptacles will be a more environmentally friendly,aesthetically appealing alternative to the presently sterile fixturesalready outside many of Dublin's buildings. The intention is to move Art(not advertising) into the many new public spaces that have appeared around Dublin as a result of the smoking ban.
