While it may seem blatantly obvious, there really does seem to be something in the observation that, when it comes to humour in any case, there's a marked difference between the English and the Irish.
As I'm now living in the UK, I've had recourse to have a look at a number of music forums similar, at least in design, to this website. Have to admit, I find them...bizarre. Here's a sample:

Any thoughts?

Yeah, I'm not sure its a marked difference in sense of humour at play there. Rather, it looks like a marked difference in the quality of recreational chemicals available in Blighty.

I found some of it funny. I didnt find it any different to how I used to talk with my friends when I was 17....
I think what needs analyzing is the marked lack of difference between Cluas' discussion forum and that one.

You never know.

hey optimus...pretty funny.....what with bear being my name and all, and you said it was hard to..."bear".
you may have meant that it was hard to stand/stomach/tolerate, but you may also may have been telling "bear"(that's me) that it was "hard to" do something "it was hard to bear" perhaps the latter would have required a comma to make it grammatically correct, but still, hillarious stuff all the same.
i know it may appear that i'm trying to say that it wasn't funny but really i'm just rambling. i thought it was most amoosing.
of course the joke works on the simple level that bear is both my username and the word that you used. you may have chosen any number of words but you did not...it was a wise choice...you went for the funny option. you optimised...eh optimusised...no...you eh....shut up;)
i wonder if there are music fans on pit cairn island posting this thread up and discussing the odd irish sense of humor....
"i didn't think it was funny"...
"well, robin....you've been ROBIN' all their jokes, now let me have my way with your daughter".
oh man...the fun.

There is a Sloth going on here...
And yes it is a grizzly situation.
But this sorta stuff is what makes life easy to bear.
But it's gotta end sometime. And I guess I'm more interested in koala topics than this.
So there. It is ended. No more pic-i-nic baskets for you!
