Funny, I've been thinking of starting a thread like this for a while, but never really got round to it. I can't be bothered putting together an all time favourites mix CD, because its really difficult and also a bit boring. I rarely put the same songs on two different CDs, even if i'm giving them to different people. The best mix CDs have at least one throwaway track. So here is a mix CD that I would put together if I wanted to show whats grabbing my attention at the moment. I'm limiting myself to 15 tracks as a very conservative estimate of what you can fit on a CD-R (I usually manage to get 19 - 21 on there, but I can't be arsed figuring out track lengths). Many of the tracks are just MP3s I've downloaded (legally!, well mostly, bootlegs are a grey area) 1. Miss Kittin - Professional Distortion (guaranteed to clear the cobwebs from the speakers) 2. Asobi Seksu - I'm happy but you don't like me 3. Instamatic - Egyptian Jet (Bootleg: The Bangles "walk like an Egyptian Vs. Jet "Are you gonna be my girl?") 4. Art Brut - Formed a band (best lyrics I've heard in ages) 5. Flight of the Conchords - Humans are Dead (obligitary comedy song, not a bad tune in its own right either. Songs about robots wiping out humanity are funny, no really..) 6. New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle 7. Emperor X - Florencia Tropicana 8. Velvet Underground - Here she comes now 9. Billy Childish - I've got everything 10. The Clash - Straight to Hell 11. Echo and The Bunnymen - The Cutter 12. Surely everyone with friends abroad has made an "Irish" mix at some point. Last one I did I completely broke protocal and put 2 songs by some people on. The shame.

That's what I'd call this, even if t's not originally mine. Everyone else's look solid, particularly Binokular and Punchbowl have some songs i adore and some songs i'm very curious about. So when are we trading?

2 Chems tracks, Hendrix and Yo La Tengo - respect! Not too mad about the Baz Luhrman track though. Never heard of Melvin Sparks, sounds good though, mst try and check it out. Just remembered another track that I've heard recently that I'd love to add to any compilation: The Go! Team - Ladyflash Just such a feelgood, danceable track with loads of great soul samples (but not in Moby kinda way). Gotta get their album.

Binokular - i know what mean about the Baz L track, but I always always listen and smile, it's cheesy, and such a great mood changer... The Go! Team sound wicked I must check them out.
