Ive just ordered the futureheads album basedon quite a lot of good reviews.
Havent heard a single song of theirs...i just love takin risks.
If you havent picked up 50ft waves 5 track ep, then id highly recommend it. Quality rock from Kristin Hersh. Should only be around 7/8 euro.
I see HMV are selling that sub pop compilation for 3.99, how bad eh
The killers album, is good fun. I really like it anyway. Really enjoyed them at p-oxegen.
Johnny Marrs album, boomslang. Kind of neil finn-ish, well i suppose some of neil finns influence must have rubbed of on him what with the touring they did together
On the subject of neil finn, he has a live album out called "7 Worlds collide", which includes performances from eddie vedder and Johnny marr, both singing finns songs and sing with finn and his brother.

futureheads album is really good, but i'd hoped for more. i've been waiting for it ever since i heard their first single "carnival kids". it's cheap in hmv now 8.99 or so. worth it.
a to b, decent days and nights, meantime, first day, stupid and shallow, carnival kids all fantastic songs.
i was going to recommend this and saw you already had, klooty.
7 worlds collide is deadly too.
or you could probably buy the best of buddy holly or a good nina simone compilation for feck all.

Have The Killers album, it's ok. I'm thinking of getting something by Clive Barnes after reading Rev Jules' review on this site. I'm also looking to get the ep that The Urges released, anybody know where I can get it (Road Recs sold out)?

I recently got Ratatat after reading Binokular's review - wicked, something along those lines would be good

Just wondering if anyone bought new albums by Cathy Davey, Futureheads, Tanya Donelly, The Devlins? Read good reviews on all of them.

Ive just received my copy of The Futureheads album in the post and on first listen im quite dissapointed. I expected an 80's feel to it. But on first listen, ive found it repetitive and unoriginal.
Its a bit early for me to be making harsh decisions, so a few more listens will be required. Its just that when you see an album getting a lot of 4/5 reviews you expect it to have some sort of effect on you the first time you listen to it

I heard the new Devlins single this morning on Today FM and it sounded good. Real nice groove to it.

Sorry, havn't purchased anything lately worth mentioning.
Has anyone heard the new sonic youth album? I've heard their new song played on the radio a good few times and love it.

Yep, I've got it, If you liked Murray Street, you'll like this, very similar except that its longer really.
Karlito, nice to know my review helped someone find an album they liked.
I don't know if I can reccomend something similar to Ratatat, they're pretty unique really! a little sub-genre unto themselves. Anyway I'd get Lali Punas latest "Faking the Books" if you haven't already. Miss Kitins debut solo album "I COM" is worth checking out if you've liked any of the previous material she has appeared on.
At the moment I'm enjoying the new one from Seelenluft called "The Way we Go", which has a lot straightforward dance grooves, but still manages to sound interesting if not exactly groundbreaking. One of the tracks features Jim Reid from the Jesus and Mary Chain on vocals.
