Bit more balanced mix of reviews than some of the reviews we've seen so far which are often overwheminingly positive. The positive reviews are often because fans are reviewing a CD that they already like and have actually bought themselves (like my Ratatat review, which is my first album review), not neccesarily a bad thing as long as such reviews don't descend into gushing fandom with little real insight into the music. I don't know if my review fell into this trap, as I can't be objective about it obviously.
Would I be correct in saying that some of the CDs reviewed this time up were obtained from record companies rather than being purchased out of the reviewers own pocket? If so, its probably a god thing.
Gar, even though you've obviously got different musical tastes to myself and I would disagree with some of your evaluations of certain artists, I have enjoyed most of the reviews you've written so far. Definitely well written, without attempting to prove anything by being showy in your writng style like so many (so-called) professional music journalists. The only one that I felt below your usual standard was the Roesy Album review, mainly because it felt a bit short and didn't really give me an idea what the record was like, other than that, two thumbs up for all your other stuff!
