I got into work this morning and found out that The Urges are playing Oxegen.....?
Now they're a good band but I don't think that they deserve a gig like that in any way.
Let me know if you think the same way or you think that they've worked hard enough for it.

They're a damn good band in my opinion and they deserve the slot far more than some of the other acts on the bill. Fair play to them! I for one will be there to take it in and cheer them on and I'm sure I wont be alone.
I think it's great to see Irish unsigned acts on the bill (once they are up to scratch - and the urges most definitely are!).

What have they done/achieved to deserve it?
I think there are other, better bands out there that have worked harder and deserve it more.

Are they performing on the New Band Stage? If so, I say fair play as they have got a following around the independent scene. Bands that rarely get noticed might get more recognised at such a high profile event. I think that Life After Modelling and Republic Of Loose are two bands to watch out for on the New Band Stage. Also heard alot about The Things.

Fair play to the Urges for getting it, it shows that they can talk their way into anything (they'll probably headline Reading next year).Do you think they deserve that?
You should look out for Republic of Loose and The Things but Life after Modelling aren't great they are very whiney.

The debut album from The Republic Of Loose is out tomorrow. I've been looking forward to it ever since I saw them live first. Their previous ep was ok but this album is meant to be great.
On the topic of New Band Stage...anyone recommend any other bands that are playing both days?

rep of loose album sounds grrrreat, its a kick in the head, sort of, well a nice kick in the head. buy it and try to push them up the bill through cd sales, our pals in the marketing department(BANG! ONE DOWN!)will see the numbers rising and act accordingly.

The Republic Of Loose album is called 'This Is The Tomb Of The Juice'. It's €17.99 in Tower or €16.99 in HMV, not sure what price in Road Recs. It's a breath of fresh air on the Irish scene...check it out.
