Anyone buy her debut album ? For the uninitiated: Melissa Auf Der Maur played bass with Hole and the Smashing Pumpkins and has released her debut solo album. I must confess to being disappointed. The album got good reviews and having seen the gorgeous Melissa on the Pumpkins farewell tour, I was more than favourably disposed to buying her debut album. Regrettably, I fear I'll be flogging it off to Freebird Records before long. She's a capable enough singer and all the ingredients are there - chugging guitars, wall of noise percussion, suitably goth atmosphere. The only thing missing is the most important - the tunes. The songs just aren't strong enough to hold your attention, in my opinion anyway. She's still a babe though, so hopefully she'll play Oxygen. I'll be in the front of the stage perving to my heart's content.
