theres talk of the new york dolls surviving members getting together at the request of none other than morrisey to play the meltdown festival in london in june. best part is the late greats johnny thunders and jerry nolan will be replaced by izzy stradlin and gary powell of the libertines respectively. could you think of a more interestin gig to go to this summer. although looking at the way glasto sold out id say it will be hard to get tickets.
im wondering if it does happen and they are prepared to do a tour will mcd get the finger out and bring it here....too many heroes..it would be f**kin great

I'm pretty sure its definite, I think I read about it in the UK edition of the Sunday times originally, theres also a story about on www.pitchforkmedia.com today. It looks like it will happen, with Morrisey being the curator/artistic director of Meltdown, he actually has the resources to make it happen.

That would be a major turn up for the books but i dont know how it would happen. Interviewed about a year ago, Syl Sylvian claimed that he was getting tired of all the rumours of a dolls reunion gig because of the effects that it was having on arthur kane. Each time something had come up, Kane had got his hopes up only to be dashed by the main stumbling block that was david Johanson stating that he would never be a doll again...How do you replace guys like Johnny Thunders and Gerry Nolan anyway?

you dont replace the likes of jerry nolan or johnny thunders. but if you need temporary replacements for this type of thing you have two of the best there. i think izzy stradlin would be the obvious choice to play JT. gary powell struck me as a real outside choice to fill nolans drum stool but hes a f**king brilliant drummer. if you ever see or hear any live libertines stuff its almost embarrassing how solid he is compared to how loose the rest of them are..but thats one of the reasons i love that band. i hope this gig goes ahead
