I just got back from paris...were i went to see Air in a venue called "le Zenith"...i was amazed how organised and laid back the place was compared to our big venues like the point or vicar street...there were no spastic bouncers trying to force there authority on you..no half hour wait in the jax ready for your balls to burst..and what really amazed me was there attitued to drink... there was no que's at the bar..they had little trollies in the middle of the venue selling drink, so there was no waiting in line while you miss half the gig... so is all this cause we're a nation of drunks or if things were run better would it make a difference....

Le zenith is an excellent venue alright...was there a couple of weeks ago for dream theater, wasnt impressed by the extremely slow q-ing process tho! doors were open when we got there and it still took us 45 mins to get in! the guys going round selling food and beer was a nice touch though i thought!! one of the best gigs ive ever been at!! www.dreamtheater.net

ahhh i want to go see the Pixies at le Zenith. saw Belle & Sebastian at Le Grand Rex last week and it was fabulous. The nicest venue I've ever been in. It's a huge old cinema with these great big comfy seats but they let loads of people stand right in front of the stage too. And the ceiling has a night sky kind of painted on to it. Wow. Oh yeah and there was a guy going around selling snacks too!

For years I've been going to Irish gig venues, and been irked by the massive level of chatter. On weekends in particular. (I saw the Bray Vista in Whelans last Saturday. Standing in the mezzanine bit the roar of the crowd drowned out the entire band with the exception of yr man's vocal and the drum.) And for years now I've resisted the notion to brand us all loudmouth drunks, but I've run out of patience at this stage. Too many gigs ruined. Of course I'm not suggested total reverential silence, but I am sick of people roaring at their mates over the music. f**k off outside if ya want to talk, or the bar if you want to get drunk. Cos I'm sick of standing beside you.. (Rant over - apologies to the many genuine gig goers).
